All You Need To Know About Operation High Stakes in Rainbow Six Siege X

Release Date

Operation High Stakes does not have a concrete release date yet. But if we take a step back and look at the pattern, we can expect the new season to come out next month. All of the past Rainbow Six Siege seasons came out a month after their reveal panels, and we expect Operation High Stakes to be no different in that regard.

Dual Front Updates

Rainbow Six Siege X’s Dual Front mode will be getting a new update in the form of a new assignment. The Dual Front map will now have a new Keres Safe Room, a neutral zone at the center of the map. Your goal is to infiltrate this room and hack the servers.

While the task seems simple, as soon as you begin hacking, you could get locked in the room. There’ll be no way out, and you have to sit inside and hold your ground while the hacking continues. The enemy team can tear apart the ceiling and rain hell down on you, so we’re interested to see the defensive setups this new assignment will spawn.

Operation High Stakes will modernize three new maps: Nighthaven, Lair, and Consulate. This means that all of these maps will get a visual overhaul, bringing them more in line with current-gen visuals. Furthermore, the audio will improve, too, adding to the depth of the gameplay. Lastly, these maps will also get the new destructible elements seen in the other modernized maps. These include fire extinguishers, gas cylinders, and more.

R6 Shieldguard

Ever since Rainbow Six Siege went free-to-play with Siege X, there has been a noticeable spike in cheating. Ubisoft has noticed these and is improving their anti-cheat measures. The devs are building R6 Shieldguard to adapt to cheaters fast, improving the cheater detection and punishment system. The Shieldguard is also taking measures to cut down on false bans.

Anti-Toxicity

Toxicity is an issue that plagues all competitive games, and Rainbow Six Siege X is no different in that regard. To combat this, Ubisoft is making a change to nicknames. You can now opt to have a nickname automatically assigned, which will then protect you from being targeted. These updated privacy settings will also finally be coming to console, so console players can opt for them, too.

Ubisoft will also be keeping tabs on voice chat toxicity, incorporating it into the game’s Reputation system. This will allow Ubisoft to validate reports and ensure that anyone who is toxic on voice chat faces repercussions with a preventive mute.

Furthermore, if you’re a player with a Positive Reputation, you will have to chance to defend yourself if you’re reported. The game will allow you to view your voice and text chats, and you can then respond to Ubisoft directly in-game and defend yourself against the reports. This is perfect for situations where you were speaking in another language and the game flagged you as toxic for it.

The Esports tab will be getting updates in Operation High Stakes. The tab will get a new Championship page, which will allow you to dive deeper into Rainbow Six Siege X’s thriving Esports scene. There will also be a new Standing page, where you can check on all the teams competing and see how they’re faring on the road to Six Invitational.

Should diving into the competitive scene get you excited, you can then get a taste for it yourself with the Siege Cup. Starting Operation High Stakes, Siege Cup will be a weekly event occurring every weekend. This means you no longer have to wait three or so weeks to get a feel for top-tier competitive Siege.

Operator Balancing Changes

  • Shield changes: Shields will no longer be able to throw grenades with full protection. Now, whenever they throw one, a part of their head and shoulders will be exposed, giving you a chance to kill them.
  • Blackbeard: Blackbeard will no longer be able to break through a full health barricade in one hit while on rappel. When rappelling in, he will un-ADS automatically. His reload has been nerfed, too, and he will be fully exposed when reloading. His magazine, too, will have five fewer bullets. Lastly, he will have one less breach.
  • Magnified Scopes: All guns, with the exception of DMRs and slug shotguns, will be losing their magnified scopes. This means Doc will no longer have his ACOG, but Aruni will keep hers.
  • Echo: Echo will now be a 2-armor 2-speed operator.
  • Reaper Mk2: Improved recoil on the Reaper Mk2, making it easier to control. Furthermore, Sledge, Lesion, Ying, Oryx, and Pulse will be getting the Reaper Mk2 as a secondary weapon.
  • Recruits: Striker will get the SR-25 DMR, while Sentry will get the TCSG slug shotgun.

New Operator: Denari

Denari is the operator joining the Rainbow Six Roster in Operation High Stakes. The personal enforcer of Jayvini “Kali” Kalimohan Shah, Denari, is an absolute force to be reckoned with. The new swiss defender brings in his T.R.I.P. Connector gadget that allows him to create laser tripwires. These wires deal damage to enemies and slow them down.

For weapons, he brings the Scorpion EVO 3 A1 and FMG-9 submachine guns as his primary weapons. Both of these weapons are close-quarter weapons and synergize with his ability. You can use his tripwires to slow enemies down, and quickly swing at them to shred them with the submachine guns. It is to be noted that these guns turn into pea shooters over longer distances. So if the enemy were to use the tripwires to bait you into a swing, you’re likely to lose the gunfight.

For his secondary, he carries the P226 MK25 pistol and the Glaive-12, which is a new secondary slug shotgun. While the former is perfectly serviceable, the latter is excellent for making rotations. You can make rotations and aid in setting up the site. Moreover, you can also use the shotgun to make holes to link up the tripwire devices. This will allow you to make tripwires that you otherwise wouldn’t have been able to.

The Swiss operator also comes with the deployable shield and observation blocker. The shield will allow you to hide and peek at enemies when they’re slowed. If you feel no use for it, you can also hand it over to your teammates to help them hold down parts of the map. The observation blocker, too, perfectly synergizes with the traps. You can use the device to obscure the enemy drone’s vision, hiding your laser tripwires. This allows your traps to work more efficiently, giving you an advantage in fights.
