Night Apsect, aka Heolstor, the Nightlord, is easily the most challenging boss in Elden Ring Nightreign, prior to the Everdark Sovereign Nightlords, of course. Heolstor is essentially an amalgamation of all previous “knight bosses” that FromSoftware has created over the decade, warped into a single entity, who also possess the power of summoning affinities from other Nightlords. Suffice it to say, Heolstor is a force to be reckoned with, especially on the game’s solo mode. However, despite the challenge, Night Aspect is one of the most fun bosses to fight in single-player mode.

In order to stand a chance at victory against the boss, you will need a proper strategy. You cannot just brute force Heolstor, even with a Level 15 Nightfarer. Here’s a comprehensive guide on how to easily defeat the Night Aspect in Elden Ring Nightreign’s solo mode.

As the final boss of Elden Ring Nightreign’s campaign, Night Aspect is a major challenge. Apart from the Everdark bosses, Heolstor is the only boss in the entire game that gains very high immunity to affinity damage in the second phase. Furthermore, it is also the only boss in vanilla Nightreign who has two phases to his battle, complete with separate health bars. In addition to that, similarly to Everdark Libra, Heolstor also has an “RNG” gimmick to his boss fight, which can catch you off guard. However, there are plenty of ways to power through the boss.

Much like other Nightlords, you can weaken Heolstor significantly with affinity damage. Furthermore, using damage negation passives massively helps in this battle. Furthermore, some Nightfarers like Raider, Wylder, and even Duchess work well against this boss. As for the weaknesses, Heolstor is only weak to Holy. You can inflict the boss with Scarlet Rot and Poison, but it won’t make much of a difference. Holy is where you want to focus for affinity builds.

Inflicting Holy on Heolstor not only staggers the boss, but also applies defense down, which makes it easier to reduce chunks of his HP with single attacks. Additionally, with defense down applied, Heolstor also gets a major poise debuff. As such, you will be able to stance-break the boss easily, with characters like Raider and even Ironeye.

Tips To Easily Defeat Night Aspect In the Solo Mode

Here are some tips to help you easily defeat Night Aspect in Elden Ring Nightreign’s solo mode:

  • Firstly, before you head into the Night Aspect Expedition, make sure to have a Shifting Earth active. We recommend using either the Crater or the Rotted Woods. However, Noklateo is also a good option, especially for the Legendary weapon drops.
  • You also want to stack Holy Attack Up and Damage Negation passives using Relics. Furthermore, make sure to bring a Relic to the Expedition that applies Holy to your starting armament. While Holy isn’t as rare as Frenzy, it still has a lower spawn rate compared to other affinities.
  • Follow our solo mode guide to help you easily reach Level 15 by the end of Day 3. Ideally, you want to be at least Level 13 for this boss, especially in solo runs. Also, if you’re using Raider, Wylder, or Executor, it’s best to power-stance weapons instead of two-handing them.
  • The first phase of Night Aspect is fairly easy and should be a breeze with Epic/Legendary weapons and a Level 13 (or above) Nightfarer. Do note that the affinities stacked in the first phase don’t carry over to the second phase.
  • In the second phase, you want to initially play a bit defensively, and only go close to the boss if you have your Ultimate Art charged up. Once you stagger Heolstor with your Ultimate, get in as many hits as possible before the boss charges an AOE.
  • When Heolstor lunges up in midair, he will always follow up with a massive AOE slam attack that also inflicts affinity damage. Ideally, you want to dodge this attack by rolling. However, the window to dodge this AOE has very few i-frames.
  • As such, instead of dodging, we recommend blocking instead. Simply hold the block with any weapon (not Bow, Seal, or Sorcery Staff) when you see Heolstor performing the AOE. You will take a bit of passive damage, but it won’t be lethal.
  • From this point, you simply need to apply Holy debuff on the boss and dodge another volley of AOEs. If you used your Ultimate Art at the start of the second phase, it will have recharged by the end of the first AOE combo. Use your Ultimate when you see fit, and that should defeat Heolstor easily.

Additional Notes

If you don’t have any Relics that grant Holy on your starting armament, we strongly recommend against using Edge of Order, unless you plan on using Ironeye. While Edge of Order does apply Holy to your weapon, the rest of its perks aren’t useful for Nightfarers other than Ironeye. Instead, it’s best to re-roll the Expedition until you get a few Holy camps to spawn.
