Horses are an important form of travel in Mafia The Old Country. But apart from this, there are other ways that the horses can be useful. In Chapter 2, there will be a mission where you will need to participate in a horse race and win to further progress through the game. This is the one and only horse race in Mafia The Old Country. While the horse race may prove a little difficult in the beginning, you can always use ‘Chapter Replay’ to try it again.

You will be assigned a standard racehorse, Palio, who comes with three spurs. You will not have the option to choose other horses from your stable. However, Palio is a great horse with a great number of stackable spurs, which prove beneficial for the race. In this article, we will look at how to win the horse race in Mafia The Old Country.

One of the advantages you will have in the race is that the track is relatively straight for most of it. There will be very few occasions when you may need to make a steep turn. So using the Spur ability will help keep your horse ahead in the race. But timing is crucial. Before a sharp turn is set to arrive, make sure to pause the use of Spur to avoid bumbling into obstacles. Also, minimize the use of Spurs when surrounded by other horse racers, as it would nullify the effect of them.

Dashing into the other races will significantly drop the speed of your horse and set you back by some positions. It is also advisable not to use Spur when racing through narrow lanes. Last but not least, keep at least one Spur handy for the final stretch of the race. The path to the finish line is a long, straight one, and using the Spur will be most effective then.
