In Madden NFL 26’s Franchise mode, you will be able to see the ratings for each of the 32 teams. And, mostly, you’ll rely on these ratings to select which of the teams you’ll want to play as. It’s true that the highly rated teams usually dominate over their weaker counterparts during matches. However, that’s not always the case. In some cases, an underdog performs beyond everyone’s expectations and snatches victories from better teams.
In this guide, we’ll outline three of such overperforming Franchise mode teams in Madden NFL 26. Keep in mind that the teams we’re talking about usually aren’t good enough to go all the way and win the season. Instead, they simply perform better in reality than their stats would have you believe.

All Overperforming Franchise Mode Teams in Madden NFL 26
Here are some of the teams that exceed expectations when it comes to their on-field performances.
New England Patriots
Coming in first are the New England Patriots, who are currently ranked 23 in ESPN’s Power Ranking. Several simulations of the Franchise mode saw the New England Patriots reaching the playoffs against all odds. This isn’t what many fans hope from the team in the real NFL 2025 season. And, based on how the team has performed after Tom Brady, we don’t blame them for that assumption. However, in Madden NFL 26, the team seems to overperform, primarily because of the excellent QB play from Drake Maye.
He was able to complete a majority of his attempts and scored a respectable amount of touchdowns. However, the team didn’t fare well once they reached the playoffs.
Tennessee Titans
Tennessee Titans performing well during the NFL 25 season isn’t something we believe is on the cards. However, the lowest-ranked team in ESPN’s Power Ranking pleasantly surprises in the game. Just to be clear, even Madden NFL 26 acknowledges that things aren’t currently great in the team, which is why the team has the lowest rating out of all 32 in the game.
However, during Franchise mode, the team clearly performs much better than you’d think. We noticed that their defensive plays were particularly impressive, and they allowed the tenth lowest amount of yards in the league. Not only did they reach the playoffs, but the Tennessee Titans also made it past the Wild Card round. However, they met their match in the Divisional Round. Still, that’s a much better position to end their run than what most fans expected.
The Carolina Panthers
The Carolina Panthers is another team that’s right near the bottom in ESPN’s Power Ranking. However, that doesn’t seem to put a dent in their spirits in Madden NFL 26. The team shines thanks to some excellent plays by QB Bryce Young, who managed to post excellent numbers and achieve a high touchdown-to-interception ratio. Running Back Chuba Hubbard also manages to gain significant yardage during the season.
However, more than the offense, what impresses greatly is their defensive capabilities. They often end up the third or fourth best in the league when it comes to yards given up. Similarly, they are almost always in the top 10 when it comes to the least number of points given up. Even though they reached the playoffs, they didn’t last through the Wild Card round. Still, that’s a great achievement for a team with such low ratings on paper.
