Games Workshop surprised the community by announcing Dawn of War 4 just a week after the release of Dawn of War Definitive Edition, driving the franchise’s hype to an all-time high. A surprising amount has been revealed about the game through trailers, developer interviews, and gameplay demos.

While all major factions were revealed, their unit rosters were not fully showcased. The demo mission primarily showed off the Space Marine faction with Orks as enemies. We dug a little deeper to find all the units visible in the gameplay footage, and here is our breakdown of the units revealed so far.

Infantry

  • Infiltrators: Scout Primaris Marines.
  • Intercessors: Primaris Marines who can be outfitted with a variety of wargear to counter various opponents.
  • Assault Intercessors: Assault Marines that can be upgraded with jump packs, plasma pistols, and Thunderhammers.
  • Eradicators: Close-range specialists wearing Mark X Gravis Power Armour pattern. Upgradable with Meltas to penetrate heavy armor.
  • Terminators: Assault cannon to obliterate hordes of oncoming enemies.
  • Blade Guard Veterans: Melee specialists, Primaris Marine veterans armed with powerswords and shields.

Vehicles

  • Invictor Tactical Warsuit: A mech piloted by a Primaris Space Marine, weaker than a dreadnought but much more agile.
  • Outriders: Space Marines riding Raider Combat Bikes, perfect for scouting, harassing, and flanking.
  • Gladiator Reaper Grav Tank: Heavy armored support with multiple loadouts to choose from.
  • Redemptor Dreadnought: A newer variant of the Dreadnought with powerful melee capabilities. Upgradable for ranged specialization, such as with a Macro Plasma Incinerator to turn heavy armor into sludge.
  • Repulsor Executioner Tank: The most powerful ranged unit available to the faction, the tank has upgradable configurations to fulfill a variety of battlefield roles. For example, upgrading the heavy laser increases its anti-heavy armor capabilities.

Necrons

Infantry

  • Cryptek: Builders who specialize in the lost knowledge of crafting necrodermis.
  • Scarabs: Small beetle-like constructs generally used for maintenance, used as a swarm of attacking drones.
  • Necron Warriors: Lumbering warriors with bodies forged of self-healing necrodermis. Little more than automatons commanded by their overlords, their Gauss weaponry and regeneration make them a dangerous foe to face.
  • Immortals: A tier higher than Necron Warriors, Immortals carry heavy gauss blasters, which increase their range and make them more effective against heavy armor.
  • Lychguard: Shield- and Hyperphase Sword-wielding infantry bolstered by heavy armor reserved for Necron nobility. Exceptional in melee combat, though their weight slows them down.
  • Skorpekh Destroyers: Necrons plagued by the Destroyer Curse, who have altered their forms for better killing potential. They walk on tripod stilt legs and wield Hyperphase Swords, which can slice through any mortal armor.

Vehicles

  • Canoptek Doomstalkers: Towering walkers straight out of ‘War of the Worlds,’ Canoptek Doomstalkers are long-range weapons platforms outfitted with a Doomsday Blaster to deal catastrophic damage.
  • Canoptek Spider: Large floating constructs usually reserved for tomb world maintenance are unleashed onto the battlefield. Use their claws to tear any target apart in melee range.
  • Monolith: A floating pyramid fortress armed with Gauss blasters and a Gauss Flux Arc to fire anti-matter beams, wreaking untold devastation onto the battlefield. It possesses the highest armor rating seen in the game thus far.

  • Shootaz: Ork boyz armed with medium ranged shootaz have poor accuracy.
  • Explosive Squigs: Squigs with explosives strapped to them act like a kamikaze unit.
  • Squig Hog Boys: Orks riding Squig Hogs to form a light cavalry unit.
  • Mega Armored Nobz: Elite Ork Nobz outfitted with power armor and weapons for burst damage in melee and short range.

Vehicles

  • Battlewagon: A mobile weapons platform that can transport units and provide heavy firepower over medium range.
  • Death Dreads: Heavy walkers similar to Killa Kan from the first game deal heavy melee damage with an assortment of wicked claws and power tools.
  • Gorkanaut: A massive walker that can engage in melee or range combat depending on its upgrades.

Adeptus Mechanicus

  • Skitarii: The rank and file of the Mechanicus’s cybernetic forces, Skitarii carry Galvanic Rifles and carbines for mid-range combat. They are at a disadvantage in melee.
  • Kataphron Battle Servitors: An armored human upper body with tank treads underneath, these heavy battle servitors are mindless drones under the Mechanicus’ command. They serve as mobile ranged infantry with multiple possible loadouts.
  • Kastelan Robot: Relics forged in the Dark Age of Technology, Kastelan Robots sport a solid metal and ceramite shell to withstand enormous punishment. They generally fulfill a ranged heavy infantry role with Heavy Phosphor Blasters, but can easily hold their own in melee using Power Fists.
  • Imperial Knight: Colossal walkers whose noble pilots ally themselves with the Adeptus Mechanicus in return for access to their technology. Imperial Knights obliterate almost any foe in melee or ranged combat.
