Support Cards in Umamusume Pretty Derby fulfill a vital role in building characters by adding training bonuses and teaching skills. Upgrading Support Cards increases their bonuses, and the upgrade limit for Support Cards depends on their uncapping level. To increase the uncapping level of a Support Card, you must consume duplicate copies in storage.
However, these duplicate Support Cards can also be converted into Cleats. Depending on the rarity, the conversion will yield either Silver, Gold, or Rainbow Cleats. Each variety of Cleat can be traded in the Cleats Exchange for a guaranteed SR+ Make Debut Ticket once a month. They can also be used to purchase upgrade resources, such as Winner’s Sashes for raising a trainee’s potential level.
Umamusume Pretty Derby: Should You Turn Support Cards into Cleats?
You should only turn Support Cards into Cleats if their copies aren’t necessary for uncapping or reaching Max Limit Break (MLB). If you intend to play the game in the mid-to-long term, Support Cards that may not seem useful at first usually fulfill a role in training for specific distances, running styles, events, or scenarios. Therefore, we do not recommend turning non-MLB Support Cards into Cleats.
However, there are some exceptions to this norm, and certain Support Cards have such small use cases or low stats that turning them into Cleats will have a negligible impact on your progression.
Guts Cards
Guts cards are the least valuable Support Cards to level up. They are prime candidates for conversion into Cleats. However, the upcoming ‘Make a New Track‘ scenario is known to favor Guts card builds, which is something you may want to save the best Guts Support Cards for. Here are the best Guts Support Cards you shouldn’t turn into Cleats if you want to try a Guts or Debuffer Build.

R Support Cards
R-type (Silver) Support Cards quickly lose relevance after the early game. You can turn them into Silver Cleats without worrying about progression. The only exception is the R Symboli Rudolf (Wit), which has several debuffing skills essential for creating an effective debuff build.
