The Everdark Sovereign Nightlords are some of the toughest challenges that FromSoftware has ever created in their souls-like titles. Although Elden Ring Nightreign isn’t technically a souls-like, it does share plenty of similarities to the genre. And even among the Everdark Sovereigns that have been released so far, Everdark Tricephalos is easily one of the most difficult Nightlords.

While the boss features the usual moveset of Gladius, Beast of Night, it mixes them with combos taken out of Heolstor’s the Nightlord’s book. Furthermore, the boss also has a unique “gimmick” where it can stack Attack Up buffs on itself, randomly. During the buffed state, Gladius can easily one-shot any Nightfarer, even a Level 15 Raider, with the Rooted Woods’ blessings.

However, as is the case with most bosses in Nightreign, Everdark Gladius can be trivialized with Wylder. Here’s a comprehensive guide on the best Wylder build for Everdark Tricephalos in Elden Ring Nightreign.

For the Wylder build, we are going to focus on the usual, i.e., survivability and affinity damage. However, given the amount of resistance Gladius gets in the second phase, it’s best to focus on survivability more. Ideally, you want to treat this boss fight similarly to Everdark Augur. While yes, you can stagger Gladius and apply defense down on the boss with Holy affinity, it’s not as effective as in the case of regular Gladius.

Instead, we recommend focusing on physical damage. Furthermore, with Wylder, you do want to stack damage taking increases damage negation passives, alongside physical damage negation.

As for affinities, you can go with either Holy or Bleed. Frost is also effective in this boss fight, but not nearly as much as Holy.

Tips To Use the Best Wylder Build Against Everdark Tricephalos

Here are some tips that will help you use the Wylder build efficiently against Everdark Tricephalos:

  • With Wylder, you ideally want to stay up close and personal to Gladius at all times. And with the additional survivability passives, you should be able to stick close to the boss for longer before needing to heal.
  • We do recommend getting a few Fire Attack Up passives as well (if possible), alongside the Ultimate Art spreads Fire in the vicinity Relic passive. Wylder’s Ultimate already deals a ton of damage, and pairing it with Fire Attack Up further enhances the skill’s damage output.
  • Ideally, you want to use Greatswords when playing as Wylder. The best options are Ordovis Greatsword (power-stanced), Grafted Blade Greatsword, and Starscourge Greatsword.
  • However, you can also use Colossal Weapons or Halberds (Greatspears, as well) with Wylder. If you’re building towards an affinity-based build, we highly recommend using Halberds or Greatspears, which build up affinity damage faster than Greatswords.

Additional Notes

For Everdark Tricephalos, we highly recommend using the Rotted Woods Shifting Earth. The Blessing of the Rotted Woods not only grants HP buff, but also increases your affinity damage negation. Furthermore, the Shifting Earth is also a great place to farm Legendary weapons on Day 2.
