In this guide, we’ll help you open up the locked Cacophonous and GATE Security Crates in Abiotic Factor and grab the contents inside.
While playing Abiotic Factor, you’ll need to uncover a variety of mysteries, one of which is the different types of locked crates that you find. Each type of crate has different unlock requirements, and you’ll need to know them before you can hope to grab the items inside.
Two of the major types of locked crates are the Cacophonous and GATE Security Crates in Abiotic Factor. In the following guide, we’ll explore how you can unlock these crates and the type of items you can expect to be inside them.
How To Unlock Cacophonous Crates in Abiotic Factor
Currently, you will find 12 Cacophonous Crates in the game. You may run into one while exploring Cascade Labs, the Office Sector, the Security Sector, the Hydroplant, and the Reaction regions of the game. However, just stumbling upon one of these won’t help, since you can’t simply break them open. Instead, you’ll need Porcelain Keys to gain access to their contents. There are three major ways of obtaining Porcelain Keys in the game.
- Grab it from fallen Symphonists. However, not all of them will drop the keys, so you might need to kill several of them to get one key.
- Break down Presents in the Furniture Store to get a few random Porcelain Keys.
- You can also trade a Symphonist Head with Marion in exchange for a Porcelain Key.
After going through so much trouble, you can finally open the Cacophonous Crates. Inside, you might find a Fog Lantern, Porcelain Shards, and an Organ. The Fog Lantern is a trinket that will reduce your Stamina drain during the Fog weather event. Porcelain Shards and Organs are both crafting materials that you’ll need to make certain in-game items.
However, perhaps more useful than the items inside is that each Cacophonous Crate turns into a storage unit after you’ve unlocked it. They have 30 slots where you can safely store your excess baggage.

How To Unlock GATE Security Crates in Abiotic Factor
We now proceed to the next part of our guide on unlocking Cacophonous and GATE Security Crates in Abiotic Factor. To open the GATE Security Crates, you’ll need to own GATE Security Keys. You can get these keys by trading Nyxshade Seeds with Warren Bunning. He’s in the Office Sector. There are currently 13 GATE Security Crates in the game, so you’ll need 13 keys to open them all. You can craft the Nyxshade Seeds by combining the following items:
- 10x Night Essence
- 1x Anteverse Wheat Seed
- 5x Leyak Essence
- 1x Enethiol
You can acquire Enethiol and Anteverse Wheat Seed easily all across the GATE facility or in many of the Portal Worlds. You will need to kill Leyaks and then grab the Leyak Essence from their bodies. For the Night Essence, you can either collect it by grabbing an Inkfish at the Night Realm or fight the IS-0059 Reaper. This enemy drops the Night Essence once you’ve killed it.
Opening the GATE Security Crates might be worth all the trouble though. These crates guarantee Night Pass Trinket drop, which will enable you to avoid attacks by Security Bots. You might also get the Security Pistol, a couple of pieces of armor and a Light Gun Repair Kit.
