Rimworld: How To Make Herbal Medicine

Herbal medicine is the basic healing item in the game. It can be abundant but is less effective than medicine. This makes it a good early-game item to have while trying to expand your colony.

You can harvest herbal medicine from mature Healroot bushes. These plants can be found in most biomes. Alternatively, if you have a colonist with Growing skill, you can also have them grow Healroot bushes in your colony. This makes it easier to acquire herbal medicine without having to scavenge in the wild.

There are many sources of medicine in Rimworld. Here is a quick rundown of each option:

Sold by Traders

Your colony can be visited by traders who sell various wares if you have the resources. Medicine is one of the items they usually sell, along with powerful weapons in the game. Alternatively, you can build a Comms Console and buy medicine from trading ships.

Dropped by the Raiders As Loot

Another way to get medicine in Rimworld is by defending your base from raiders. Some raiders have a chance to drop this item upon death. It is not a consistent way to get medicine, but it can be a good emergency source after defending your colony from a raid.

Craft in Drug Lab

You can also unlock the Drug Lab through the tech tree, which lets you craft medicine. However, you need a colonist with Level 4 Intellectual and Crafting skills. In addition, you need crafting materials such as 3 Cloth, 1 Herbal Medicine, and 1 Neutroamine to make one.

You get Neutroamine from traders. It is cheaper to buy this item than to obtain medicine from traders.
