Everything you need to know about the new Event Quest, The Melodic Monarch, in Monster Hunter Wilds, including its rewards and more.
The Event Quests are easily the most exciting aspect of Monster Hunter Wilds’ post-launch, only seconded by the game’s Title Updates. And with the weekly reset, there’s a new Event Quest available for all Monster Hunter Wilds players, The Melodic Monarch. Similar to other Event Quests, The Melodic Monarch is a timed quest, with an exclusive reward tied to it. However, unlike the previous Event Quests, which often rewarded players with Decorations, Artian Parts, or armor pieces, The Melodic Monarch offers exclusive gestures. The quest is tied to the Fender x Monster Hunter Wilds collaboration. Therefore, the quest offers rewards based on that.

Requirements for The Melodic Monarch Event Quest in Monster Hunter Wilds
Similar to previously released Event Quests in Monster Hunter Wilds, The Melodic Monarch is a High Rank quest. The minimum Hunter Rank (HR) requirement for the quest is HR 16. As such, you can only access this event once you have reached High Rank and have completed the story quests up to your first Tempered Monster encounter. Once you reach HR 16, you can access The Melodic Monarch quest by talking to Alma, and under the Event Quest tab. You can also access the Event Quest via any of your Pop-up Camps or Base Camps.
The Melodic Monarch pits you against a 5-star strength Rathalos in the Wounded Hollow. As such, you will need to prepare carefully for this encounter. While Rathalos isn’t a particularly challenging monster, especially in Monster Hunter Wilds, the 5-star strength version of it can easily one-shot you with some of its attacks. Ideally, you want to use Rarity 6 or higher armor sets for this quest.

However, it’s possible to defeat the Rathalos even with lower-level gear. We highly recommend using Artian Weapons for this quest, as Rathalos goes down much faster with elemental damage. That said, here’s a rundown of The Melodic Monarch’s requirements:
- Difficulty: 5★
- Locale: Wounded Hollow
- Conditions: HR 16+
- Quest Objective: Hunt a Rathalos
Tips To Complete The Melodic Monarch Event Quest
Here are some tips that will help you easily complete The Melodic Monarch Event Quest:
- Make sure to bring Flash Pods and Sonic Bombs with you. Both these items can be used to temporarily stun Rathalos, dropping him to the ground and giving you ample time to dish out your most powerful combos.
- We also recommend bringing a few traps along with you for the hunt. Given Rathlos tends to fly away quite a lot, trapping it in one place will give you enough leverage to inflict wounds on the monster.
- Prioritize breaking Rathalos’s head, back, and most importantly, wings, as soon as possible. Do note that the hitbox for wings starts right at the tip of the monster’s claws. You can hit the apex of the wings to break it.
- Breaking Rathalos’s wings is an easy way to immobilize it. Furthermore, you can also sever the tail to reduce the frequency of its ground slam attack.
- Ideally, for Rathalos, you want to bring Lightning or Ice weapons. However, we have found that Dragon and even Blast, after the latest update, work quite well against most monsters, Rathalos included.
- While you don’t get a break from the hunt while fighting a monster in the Wounded Hollow, you can run away mid-battle using Farcaster or the Ghillie Mantle. Make sure to use these resources to your advantage if you’re running short of Potions.
Rewards for Completing The Melodic Monarch Event Quest
The reward for completing The Melodic Monarch is a set of exclusive gestures, based on the Fender x Monster Hunter Wilds collab. There are a total of 3 gestures, which can be equipped on your Radial Menu for quick access. Do note that the gestures are only rewarded for the first time completion of the quest. After that, you will only get Meal Vouchers and Rathalos parts as rewards.
