Explore the effects of Corrosive damage in Borderlands 4 and which Vault Hunters in specific to use to take advantage of this skill.

Corrosive Damage is one of the five different elemental skills in Borderlands 4. These are highly effective in nature, especially against enemies that come with armor. Weapons with corrosive effects splash acid on multiple enemies at once, causing them to disintegrate on the spot, taking into consideration their remaining HP. These are great elemental effects when it comes to tackling hordes of enemies.
In this article, we will explore Corrosive Damage and the different Vault users who can utilize this effect.
Corrosive Damage Overview in Borderlands 4

You can use Corrosive weapons against some powerhouses, such as Crimson Lance, turrets, and various vehicles in Borderlands 4. Once you hit your target with the Corrosive damage, the ‘Corode’ status effect applies to them, draining their health bar in the process. The attack deals damage over time, with the death animation displaying green acrid liquid eating away at the remains of the deceased enemy’s body.
You can also blow up barrels with corrosive acid inside them. You can identify these by looking for barrels that are green in color. Upon destroying these, they will release a large splash of acid, inflicting damage on anyone in the vicinity.
Here is a table with a description of the enemies the Corrosive damage will be most effective against.
Opponent Type | Element Effect |
---|---|
Flesh Enemies | Very Weak |
Armor Enemies | Very Strong |
Shield Enemies | Very Weak |
