Discover the location and weaknesses of The Backhive, an Auger Mine boss in Borderlands 4, and earn valuable Legendary loot.
The Backhive is a tusked behemoth and one of the seven Auger Mine bosses in Borderlands 4. The boss has a limited set of slow attacks but makes up for it with high damage and pesky minions. Nevertheless, it is relatively easy to defeat and farm for its Legendary loot pool.
Borderlands 4: The Backhive Location
The Backhive is located in The Claim, Abandoned Auger Mine, in Dissected Plateau. You can reach the mine by taking the road south of the Synthetic Nave base.
If you have the Zadra’s Backup Plan fast travel point unlocked, it is positioned right next to The Claim. However, first, you have to complete the 11th main story mission, Shadow of the Mountain, to unlock Auger Mines.
How To Beat The Backhive Boss in Borderlands 4
- The Backhive has one health bar and is weak to Incendiary damage.
- The acid pool in the center of the arena damages you on contact. Be careful not to fall in while maneuvering around the cavern.
- The boss spawns Kratches during the fight. Quickly shoot them down, but leave one alive in case you need a Second Wind.
- The Backhive has two variations of its special attack. For both, it rears up on its hind legs and slams the ground. Jump and glide before it hits to avoid taking damage.

The Backhive Legendary Drops and Rewards
Once you’ve defeated The Backhive, you can repeat the boss fight using Moxxi’s Big Encore station by the boss room’s entrance. With each victory, you have a small chance of obtaining the following Legendary equipment.
