How To Get Pet Mutation Shard Nutty in Grow a Garden
As of the current patch, the only way to obtain the Pet Mutation Shard Nutty is from one of the Chubby Chipmunk Pet Acorn rewards. For those who are unaware, the Chubby Chipmunk pet drops an Acorn that players can collect whenever it uses its ability. The pet consumes a random crop from your garden and spits out the Acorn. Players need to find the Acorn that can appear anywhere on the server to get the reward.
The Pet Mutation Shard has a 0.24% chance to drop whenever you walk over the Acorn dropped by your Chubby Chipmunk.
How To Get Chubby Chipmunk
During the Chubby Chipmunk Event, all players can freely redeem the Chubby Chipmunk pet from the event area. Follow these steps:
- Launch Grow a Garden during the Chubby Chipmunk Event.
- Make your way to the event at the center of the map.
- Locate the sign that says ‘Free Chipmunk’ on the right side of the event area.
- Press E or tap to claim the free pet.
- Equip the pet in an active slot in your garden.
- Every time the Chubby Chipmunk activates its ability, the pet will consume a random fruit and drop an Acorn around the map.
You can cut down the time it takes for the Chubby Chipmunk to trigger its ability by getting the Nutty Fever event. This increases your chance of getting the Pet Mutation Shard Nutty faster as the Chipmunk drops more Acorns at shorter intervals.
What Does the Nutty Pet Mutation Do?
By using the Pet Mutation Shard Nutty on one of your pets, you give it the Nutty Mutation. Here is what it does:
- If a pet has the Nutty Mutation, every 19:42 minutes, it has a 20% chance to trigger its pet ability twice. However, if it does not trigger, then the pet loses a level.
This makes the Nutty Mutation quite a gamble to have. On paper, the pet has an 80% chance to lose a level every ~20 minutes.
