Learn all about Parkour in Skate and perform various tricks even without your skateboard with the help of this article.

Parkour is the crucial aspect of Skate‘s open-world sandbox skateboarding experience, but it is something that does not remain in the spotlight most of the time. There are several things you can do in the game without your skateboard, and while the tutorials do not cover them extensively, we will. In this article, we will go over all the parkour tricks you can do in Skate with just your character, and how all of them play into the larger pool of gameplay.
Parkour in Skate Explained
Parkour in Skate is not something that takes centre stage, such as in titles like Assassin’s Creed or Dying Light. Instead, in EA’s latest skateboarding title, Parkour serves as a tool in the background, supporting the backbone of the entire gameplay. Players gradually learn to implement parkour slowly by chaining their tricks and taking on the City of San Vansterdam. Once you start getting the hang of it, you start to develop muscle memory and vision for parkour opportunities.
Climbing in Skate

Climbing is the first parkour element that we are gonna cover. Yes, you can climb most buildings in Skate in theory. In addition to that, most of the time, once you reach the top of them, you get a new skateboarding spot. This includes many ramps, ledges, drops, etc. However, there will be many instances where the top of some buildings will be empty. In that case, you can install your own ramps, obstacles, and props with the Quick Drop option.
Additionally, you will need to find grabbable ledges by jumping. There’s no obvious indicator for this, so you will have to rely on your eyes and figure out which areas look climbable. Once on a ledge, you can move side to side or hold the jump button and the left analog stick upwards to climb further up.

Performing Flips in Skate

Similar to climbing, you can also perform flips in Skate without your skateboard. These tricks also give you Rep, which helps with your progression as well as leveling up the neighborhoods in the game. There are a lot of different types of flips that you can perform, including but not limited to front flips, backflips, rodeo spins, and more.
One of the easiest ways to perform a flip is to press and hold the left trigger of your controller and flick the right analog stick in any direction of your choice. It works most of the time, but if it does not, simply try flicking in a different direction.
Gliding in Skate

While Gliding is a prominent feature in Skate, many players confuse it with flying most of the time. No, you cannot actually fly in the game, and gliding through the air is certainly possible. To do it successfully, first you will have to climb to the top of a building with a significant height. Then, you can take a short run-off and jump from the ledges while pressing the R1 + X buttons for PlayStation controllers and RB + A for Xbox ones.
If you don’t like to glide through the air, then alternatively you can also initiate a dive bomb by pressing and holding the RB + B on Xbox and R1 + Circle on PlayStation.

Rolling in Skate

If all of the features above seem generic to you, then you might find rolling interesting. Indeed, you can completely abandon your skateboard and then curl into a human ball in the game. In addition to that, you can chain this move with other tricks and perform a seamless transition from doing flips to moving like a cannonball around the city of San Vansterdam.
To perform this trick, all you have to do is get off your skateboard and then press and hold the R2 or RT button of your respective controller. Also, you can jump while being in this stance by pressing the X or A button on PlayStation and Xbox, respectively.
