Unlock the Wildcard Challenge in Borderlands 4 and subject yourself to tougher missions that will be more rewarding in return.

Wildcards in Borderlands 4 are a type of weekly challenge that enhances already existing missions. Completing these missions is a sure ticket to getting legendary item drop rewards. What makes this even better is the fact that the missions are repeatable, allowing you to spam and earn the best rewards that you can. In this article, we will explore what the Wildcard Challenges in Borderlands 4 are.
Wildcard Challenges Overview in Borderlands 4

Wildcard missions make a weekly feature, taking place on Thursdays at 09:00 AM (PT). During this switch, other features such as the Encore Bosses and Black Market locations also reshuffle. Once you log in to the game and enter your map, to the bottom left of the screen, you will find a new ‘Wildcard.’
During this challenge, the bosses that you will encounter are subject to various modifiers, which increases the difficulty, making it more exciting. You can use various features in-game, such as Second Wind, to help you ace these challenges.
After successfully completing the challenge, you will receive a legendary item as a drop. The reward changes per week as new bosses are introduced into this challenge event. You can, however, get different variants of the same item if you replay the Wildcard Challenge.
How To Begin the Wildcard Challenge

Follow these steps to begin the Wildcard Challenge:
- Play through the entire Borderlands 4 Main Story Campaign.
- You will then need to meet Lilith at Moxxi’s Bar, which you will find located in the region of Carcadia Burn.
- Take up and complete the ‘Unpaid Tab’ mission she asks you to accept.
- Once you finish the mission and enter the Ultimate Vault Hunter Mode, the main campaign ends, unlocking the Wildcard Challenges.
Once the Wildcard missions become available, you can hover over the mission on the map and hold the icon to begin the challenge.
