Learn how to find and catch the Mossjaw in Fisch, including its location, favorite bait, and best rods to use.
The Mossjaw is an Exotic fish added in the Lost Jungle update. It’s a massive, horned crocodile that lives deep under the Lost Jungle Island. Unlike other fish, the Mossjaw only appears during a special hunt event, making it one of the rarest and hardest creatures to catch in Fisch. You’ll need to unlock the Forgotten Temple and solve multiple puzzles before you can even reach its resting pool.
Mossjaw Location in Fisch
To find Mossjaw, travel to the Lost Jungle Island and locate the Forgotten Temple underneath. Inside, you’ll find a maze of five rooms, each with a puzzle that gives a Rune.
Once you collect all five Runes:
- Go to the Temple Gates checkpoint.
- Place the Runes in their pedestals to open the Mossjaw Rest area.
- Inside, you’ll find a large pool where Mossjaw appears only during the Elder Mossjaw Hunt event.
When the event begins, you’ll see a screen message that says a Mossjaw has been spotted. Use the Temple Eye to teleport to the Gates and start fishing right away.

Best Way To Catch the Mossjaw
To improve your chances of catching the Mossjaw, keep these in mind:
- Best Rods: Sanguine Spire Rod, Luminescent Oath Rod, or Seraphic Rod.
- Favorite Bait: Glowworm.
- Time: Night.
- Weather/Season: No preference.
While fishing, if you see a black exclamation mark, it means you’ve hooked the Elder Mossjaw, which is even rarer than the normal one.
