The Headless Horseman is the third Prismatic pet in Grow a Garden. Added with the Garden Ghoul Halloween event on October 11, 2025, the pet has the potential to provide some very powerful boosts to other pets in your garden. This guide will explain all the Headless Horseman pet traits and what it does, along with how to obtain the rare pet.

Headless Horseman Pet Traits
The Headless Horseman occasionally gives one of the other pets a unique mutation. As of the current patch, these four mutations are exclusive, and you cannot obtain them any other way. Here is how it works:
- Every 40 minutes or so, the Headless Horseman will target a pet in your garden that is at least 50 levels old for a hunt. The affected pet will revert to level one, but will gain one of these four mutations: Nightmare, Dreadbound, Spectral, and Soulflame.
Below is a table explaining what each of the Headless Horseman’s mutations does.

| Nightmare | Increases the pet’s size by 125 times and its passive gets a 1.22x boost. | Affected pets gain a purple translucent look. |
| Dreadbound | The pet will get an additional 6 to 30 XP per second. | Dreadbound pets change their texture and look purple. |
| Spectral | Pets get a 1.8x passive boost. | Spectral pets look ghostly with a bluish, transparent appearance. |
| Soulflame | The pet’s passive gets a 60% boost. Additionally, every ~15 minutes, nearby fruits have a ~30% chance to gain the Burnt mutation. Rarely can plants also become Flaming. | The pet looks as if it is on fire. |

How To Get the Headless Horseman Pet in Grow a Garden
The Headless Horseman has a 0.5% chance to hatch from the Spooky Egg. This is the Ghoul Garden event-specific egg that you can get by:
- As a reward for contributing to the Witch’s Brew.
- As a reward for sacrificing Halloween items to the Jack-O-Lantern NPC.
- You can also buy Spooky Eggs for 30 Candy Corns at the Creepy Critters Shop at the Ghoul Garden Halloween Market.
