Everything you need to know about Hyrule Warriors Age of Imprisonment, and whether it’s coming to the Nintendo Switch or not.
Hyrule Warriors Age of Imprisonment is just a few days away from its release date. The sequel to one of Nintendo Switch’s most underrated exclusives, Hyrule Warriors Age of Calamity, is scheduled to be released on November 6, 2025. Much like Age of Calamity, Hyrule Warriors Age of Imprisonment is a hack-and-slash game, with some strategy elements, akin to Dynasty Warriors.
However, this time around, the game features a robust co-op mode, alongside support for GameShare. Similar to the previous title, Age of Imprisonment serves as a prequel to The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Furthermore, Hyrule Warriors Age of Imprisonment is coming exclusively to Nintendo Switch 2.
As such, it’s not available (natively) on the Nintendo Switch. That said, you can still play the game on Nintendo Switch, albeit using GameShare. Here’s everything you need to know about Hyrule Warriors Age of Imprisonment and how to play it using GameShare.

How To Play Hyrule Warriors on Nintendo Switch Using GameShare?
If you own a Nintendo Switch 2 version of Hyrule Warriors Age of Imprisonment, you can host a GameShare session for a friend on the Nintendo Switch. Unfortunately, there’s no native version of the game for the Nintendo Switch. Furthermore, a GameShare session for Hyrule Warriors (or any other Nintendo Switch 2 game with co-op features) can only be hosted by a Switch 2.
There are essentially two ways to join a GameShare session: via local wireless or via GameChat. Here are the steps to host and play a game on the Nintendo Switch using GameShare:
Joining a GameShare Session Using Local Wireless (Nintendo Switch and Switch 2)
- Click on the GameShare icon on the HOME Menu on the Nintendo Switch 2.
- Select Join GameShare.
- Select A Local User (a friend, who you want to share the game with).
- On the Nintendo Switch, select the user whose GameShare session you want to join.
- Once you’ve found the session you want, select Join GameShare.
Joining a GameShare Session Using GameChat (Nintendo Switch and Switch 2)
- Start or join a GameChat session with your friend.
- Once you receive the invitation, press the C button to start GameChat.
- On the Nintendo Switch, you can start GameChat from the HOME Menu.
- Select View GameShare Invitations, which will give you a list of available GameShare sessions.
- From there, simply select Join GameShare to start the co-op session.
Hyrule Warriors Release Date and Price
Hyrule Warriors Age of Imprisonment is scheduled to release on November 6, 2025. Similar to other Nintendo Switch 2 exclusives, or even the Switch 2 version of first-party Nintendo games such as Pokémon Legends Z-A, Hyrule Warriors is priced at $70. Furthermore, pre-orders for the game are now live on the Nintendo eShop.
