How To Reach Rank V in Pokemon Legends Z-A
Defeat Lida in a Pokemon Battle
Before embarking on the Z-A royale, AZ mentions that Lida has left her things back at the hotel. Go to where she is and hand her items back to her. Once you’ve delivered it to her, Lida challenges you to a Pokemon battle. She has a team of two Water-type Pokemon as well as an Ice-type, so plan accordingly:
- Clauncher
- Vanillite
- Staryu
Both Water-types can be dealt with easily by using an Electric-type or a Grass-type. Consider using Flaffy, which is one of the best Electric-types early on. Use a Fire-type to handle her Vanillite.
Defeat Rintaro in a Pokemon Battle
Once you have collected enough points, get ready to face off against waiter Rintaro. He will be one of your toughest challenges yet, so prepare well.
Rintaro has three Pokemon for you to deal with:
- Simisage
- Simipour
- Simisear
His team has the evolved forms of the Unovan monkeys. Despite their less than stellar reputation in the fandom, these are three fully evolved Pokemon forming a potent Fire-Water-Grass core that can be hard to break. Additionally, at this point in the game, they are faster than most Pokemon and hit pretty hard on both the physical and special sides.
Gyarados is one of the Pokemon you should consider bringing to this fight. Its Water/Flying typing gives it resistances to all three monkeys’ STABs. Also, it can hit back pretty hard as well. Support it with a Fire- or Flying-type for Simisage, an Electric- or Grass-type for Simipour, and a Rock- or Ground-type for Simisear.
Once you have defeated Rintaro, you will reach Rank V.
