Battling in the Z-A Royale is the fourth main mission in Pokemon Legends Z-A, and this walkthrough will cover how to quickly finish it.

This walkthrough will cover the fourth main mission of Pokemon Legends Z-A, which is Battling in the Z-A Royale. This is a very important mission, not only to progress through the main story and unlock the expansive map, but also to understand how the Z-A Royale works.
Here is a complete guide on how to start and finish this mission quickly.
How To Start Battling in the Z-A Royale in Pokemon Legends Z-A

At the end of the third main mission in the game, A New Life in Lumiose City, a cutscene will play out. This will reveal your first opponent to be Zach, another Z-rank trainer.
This cutscene will also explain the entire Z-A Royale System, and the concept of a promotion match and earning a Challenger’s Ticket. Here is an explanation for both:
- Challenger’s Ticket: An item needed to participate in the promotion match (against Zach for now).
- You get a Challenger’s Ticket by meeting the Ticket Points requirements, as displayed in the Z-A Royale app. For Zach, this is 1,000 Ticket Points.
- Promotion Match: The decisive battle you need to win to move to the next rank.
You must earn Ticket Points by defeating other trainers in the Battle Zone at night.

Your next step is to head to the newly created Battle Zone, since it is night. Fortunately, the Battle Zone is the same as the one you escaped from during Main Mission 02. Walk back into the area, and you will be given a tutorial on how to sneak up and ambush other trainers.
Use a move with type advantage to start off the ambush and deal a large amount of damage at the same time. You will have to defeat a certain number of trainers to get 1,000 Ticket Points (likely just three trainers will be enough).
When you are done, head to the Pokemon Center to heal up your Pokemon and prepare for the promotion match against Zach.
Promotion Match Against Zach

Zach will send out the following Pokemon in order:
- Slowpoke
- Pidgey
- Pikachu
Zach is called ‘Le Z Eternel’ for a reason. The evergreen Z-ranked trainer does not pose much of a threat to your team. Still, try to maintain type neutrality at worst, just so you don’t make the battle harder for yourself. You will not have access to a lot of Pokemon at the moment, so coming up with an expansive team to beat him is not only unnecessary, but not viable.
The simple way you will win this battle is by having a full team of Pokemon. You will already have caught at least five of these while completing Main Mission 03. Otherwise, if you have Chikorita as your starter, then you could use it to gain an advantage against Slowpoke and Pikachu (make sure to avoid battling Pidgey with Chikorita, though).
Defeat Zach to rank up to Y rank, and a cutscene will play out, marking the end of the walkthrough for the fourth main mission, Battling in the Z-A Royale in Pokemon Legends Z-A.
