In Jaune District, a Camerupt has started to glow with Mega Energy. Head over there to stop it from going on a rampage. You are partnered with Lida this time. This is great, as she has Water-type Pokemon that will make defeating Mega Camerupt a lot easier.

Mega Camerupt has decent bulk (70/100/105) and amazing offensive potential with 120 Attack and 145 Special Attack. However, its typing of Fire/Ground is very exploitable. This typing has only two weaknesses, Water and Ground, but it takes 4x damage from the former. And as Water is an extremely common type, there isn’t a shortage of Mega Pokemon to pick from.

If you picked the Water-type starter Totodile, Mega Feraligatr is an amazing pick, as it deals 4x damage. Alternately, Mega Gyarados, who is an excellent pick for the early game, is also a pick. Finally, if you complete the Rogue Mega Slowbro mission before this, it is also a decent choice for this fight.

In order to Mega Evolve them, you will have to collect Mega Power orbs that Camerupt releases as it rampages. Once the meter is full, you can Mega Evolve your Pokemon. Keep in mind, the meter will start to go down once activated. But you can use more than one Mega in this battle, so switch around as needed. Additionally, Lida is going to assist you a lot with her Water-types.
