Pokemon Legends Z-A has an in-game side mission where you are guaranteed to get a Shiny Mareep. This is similar to the Shiny Ponyta quest in Pokemon Legends Arceus, indicating that the Legends series may feature similar missions going forward. So, in this guide, let’s see how players can get their own free Shiny Mareep.
How To Get the Shiny Mareep in Pokemon Legends Z-A?
The NPC (non-playable character) for this quest, Duve, can be found outside Wild Zone 1. She can be identified by the two Mareep standing next to her. Talk to her and she excitedly proclaims that there is a Shiny Mareep in Wild Zone 1 and gives you the side mission.
Here are the steps to get the Shiny Mareep after receiving Side Mission 17:
- Head inside Wild Zone 1 from Duve’s position.
- Walk forward and then take a right. You will see a gate that’s open in the middle.
- Upon entering the gate, you will see a ladder. Climb up and then hop on the roof.
- There’s another ladder on the right. Climb it to enter a cutscene.
You will see a Shiny Mareep on the roof. Duve shows up, and the side mission ends. However, she is not interested in catching the Shiny for herself and lets you catch it instead of her. Once you do, you have a Shiny Mareep.
Pokemon Legends Arceus Also Had a Similar Free Shiny
In the first Legends game, Pokemon Legends Arceus, one of the most memorable quests was looking for a Shiny Ponyta that happened to spawn in the wild. This alerted newer players in the franchise to the existence of Shiny Pokemon in general, prompting them to start hunting for them. It appears that the sequel, Legends Z-A, is following the same tradition with this Shiny Mareep side mission.
