If you’re wondering when and how to change time in Pokemon Legends Z-A, the following guide should enlighten you.

There’s a nifty in-game system to change time in Pokemon Legends Z-A. So, you can go from morning to night, or vice versa whenever necessary. There are certain Pokemon that come out only during specific times, such as after dark or once the sun rises. So, if you’re looking for a particular Pokemon that spawns after dark, and currently it’s bright daytime, you can use the advance time option. The game also has other activities or quests that’ll require you to progress time to a certain part of the day before those events trigger. So, in the following guide, we’ll take a look at how you can pass time easily.
How To Change Time in Pokemon Legends Z-A

The only way to change the time is to rest at any of the benches you might have spotted around Lumiose City. However, you can’t rest at the bench right out the gate. Instead, the option to do so only becomes available to players after they’ve made some main story progression. More specifically, you’ll need to complete Main Mission 05, The City in the Shadow of Prism Tower. After that, you can simply walk up to any of the benches and interact with it.
When you interact with a bench, it’ll give you two options:
- Kill some time here
- Hang out with your Pokemon
Select the first option to change the time of day (change to night if it’s currently daytime or change to day if it’s currently nighttime). However, if you choose the second option, you’ll see all six of your current party Pokemon hanging out together. This presents the perfect opportunity to click a cool picture with the entire team.
When Should You Change Time in Pokemon Legends Z-A
As we explained earlier, certain situations in the game will force you to advance time. For instance, some Pokemon will only come out after dark. So, if you’d like to battle and capture them immediately, but its day time, you can head over to a bench. Quickly advance the time and then get right down to pursuing your target Pokemon. You will also have to manage the day/night cycle for certain evolutions.
Interestingly, if you don’t use a bench, you’ll have to wait 15 minutes of real world time to progress from day to night, and vice versa. One entire day and night cycle in the game takes around 30 minutes of real time. So, benches offer a great way to speed things up.
