Learn how you can acquire all of the in-game trade Pokemon in Pokemon Legends Z-A, and which NPCs to trade with.
You’ll want to grab all of the in-game trade Pokemon in Pokemon Legends Z-A to complete your collection. Apart from catching and evolving Pokemon, another great way to expand your collection is to trade with NPCs in the game. However, there are only a few instances where this happens. NPCs will typically ask you to get them a specific Pokemon and they’ll offer another one in return. Every transaction will result in you walking away with the better Pokemon. So, trading is a great way to further strengthen your collection.
With that in mind, here are all of the in-game trade Pokemon you can get.
All In-game Trade Pokemon in Pokemon Legends Z-A
You can get the following Pokemon through trade with in-game characters:
- Heracross
- Alolan Raichu
- Riolu
- Galarian Slowpoke
Now, here’s how you can get each one of these.
Heracross
This is the earliest in-game trade Pokemon you can grab. During Side Mission 02: A Use For An Evolution Stone, you’ll meet an NPC named Tracie. Speak to her to begin the quest. She wants you to bring her a Pikachu. In exchange, she offers Heracross to you. We suggest grabbing a Pikachu before speaking to her. This will speed up the process. Riolu
You can get your hands on a Riolu through in-game trade during Side Mission 24: An Abra Playmate. Speak with Bond to learn that he’s in need of an Abra Pokemon. If you can get him one, he’s ready to trade the Riolu with you. Follow our guide to get Abra easily, and then proceed to hand it over to the NPC here.
Galarian Slowpoke
To receive the Galarian Slowpoke, you’ll have to take on another side quest. Speak with a man named Quille to begin Side Mission 39: Slowpoke for Slowpoke. Quille wants a local Slowpoke, and if you can bring him one, you get a Galarian Slowpoke in exchange. If you don’t already have a Slowpoke in your collection, proceed to Wild Zone 10 or 11. The first area unlocks earlier on in the game, right after you complete Main Mission 09: Chase That Mysterious Pokémon! The slowpoke spawns in both of these zones, and you can catch one from there.

Alolan Raichu
The final in-game trade Pokemon is available during Side Mission 108: Alola, Raichu. Here, an NPC named Griddella will challenge you to a duel. If you can win, she’ll trade your Raichu with her Alolan Raichu. The easiest way to get your hands on a Raichu before starting this mission is to evolve a Pikachu. For the evolution, purchase the Thunder Stone, one of the many types of evolution stones in the game. It’ll set you back by 3000 Poke Dollars.
