Pokemon Legends Z-A has a ton of trainers for you to test your mettle against, but certain trainers, namely Distan, get on your nerves quickly. Distan is a trainer you fight as part of the Long-Range Moves Have Style side quest in the game, and this man is anything but humble.

Wearing a suit and tie to battle, Distan truly believes that he is better than the rest. He believes that he has cracked the code to beat all trainers, and believes that long-range Pokemon are simply superior to close-range Pokemon. The Long-Range Moves Have Style quest gives you a chance to disprove the cocky trainer and give him a sweet dose of humble pie.

Before you can get to playing the Long-Range Moves Have Style side quest, you’ll first have to unlock it by completing Main Mission 06. Once that’s done, you’ll unlock a new batch of side quests to pursue, of which Long-Range Moves Have Style is one.

Head over to the battle court directly west of Bleu Plaza, and you’ll find Distan standing by himself inside. He’s wearing a suit, so he’s very easy to spot. Walk up and press A to talk to him to begin the side quest.

How To Complete Long-Range Moves Have Style in Pokemon Legends Z-A

When you begin talking to Distan, he’ll immediately turn rude, calling you an “uncouth trainer that uses close-range attacks.” What grudge he holds against such trainers is beyond us, but he believes his long-range style grants him an edge in battle. You then have to put his claims to the test and battle him.

Distan uses Binacle, Skiddo, and Fletchling. Binacle is weak to electric-type Pokemon so we recommend bringing in a Pikachu. Fletchling can be a little trickier to deal with, but it has a weakness to Rock-type Pokemon. For this, we recommend bringing in a Barnacle. Skiddo is a grass-type, so you can use a Talonflame or similar Pokemon for the job. Defeat Distan to complete this quest.
