The best Tariq build in Fellowship relies heavily on generating, managing, and spending Fury effectively. This melee-based DPS hero can unleash lightning fueled damage with his Fury. So, you’ll want to focus greatly on the abilities that generate this resource, before you can use abilities that spend it. Playing Tariq means you also have to master his Swing Timer. Perfecting the timing of his heavy strikes will determine just how much damage you deal with such attacks. So, there’s plenty of things to know about playing an effective Tariq build.
Best Tariq Build in Fellowship: Overview
The most important part of playing a Tariq build is mastering resource management and timing. When you initiate auto-attacks, you can spot a Swing Timer appear on the screen. You need to queue your Heavy Strike just before the red zone on this timer ends. If you manage to time it just right, the resulting attack will deal a ton of damage. So, half of the work is simply mastering this timing.
Resource management for this build is specifically accumulating Fury first, before spending it. Tariq can build up Fury with several of his abilities, including Leap Smash, Heavy Strike, and Wild Swing. Once you have enough Fury available, use the skills such as Hammer Storm and Skull Crusher to spend all that accumulated Fury.
Core Mechanics
The core principle on which this build stands is building and spending Fury effectively. You can hold up to 100 fury, so make sure you unleash it with big buttons, such as Skull Crusher and Hammer Storm. Apart from managing the resource, you also need to keep an eye on the Swing Timer in the auto-attack bar. It indicates when a swing is set to land. Queue the Heavy Strike just before the timer reaches the end of the red zone for a massive boost to Heavy Strike damage.
During the Heavy Strike queue, if you cast any other abilities, it will cancel the queue entirely. So, we suggest making Heavy Strike your final input right before a swing lands to avoid such a cancelation. Similarly, Hammer Storm and Skull Crusher abilities will reset your swing. However, other abilities like Face Breaker and Wild Swing do not interfere with your swing.
Key Abilities
Thunder Call, which is in Tariq’s Basic Skill Kit, is one of the most important aspects of this build. When it’s active, Tariq receives a bonus to many of his other abilities, alongside additional effects for 20 seconds. However, perhaps the biggest advantage of Thunder Call is that it empowers Chain Lightning. Besides this one, we strongly recommend Ride the Lightning skill, since it unlocks Fury generation while the Thunder Call window is active. Eventually, this should enable you to cast the skills reliant on the resource more frequently.
Since you’ll rely heavily on the Fury driven Hammer Storm ability, you also need to grab the Kill ’Em All skill. This one will boost the damage of Hammer Storm and its enhanced variant with Thunder Call active. Thunderstruck is the final key ability that you need to prioritize. This one increases the number of enemies that your Chain Lightning attack will bounce off of.
Important Abilities Against Single Targets
We would suggest getting and using these abilities when fighting off powerful boss enemies or elites:
- Leap Smash is your first ability when battling powerful enemies or bosses. It starts off the fight with a 290% Strength damage.
- Next, you should unleash Heavy Strike and Wild Swing. Both of these will generate tons of Fury.
- Skull Crusher is the next one you should use when you have enough Fury. This deals the heaviest amount of damage, equal to around 340% of your Strength.
- From time to time, you’ll also be able to use Face Breaker. However, this skill only becomes available if your attack misses or the enemy dodges one of the strikes.
Important AoE Abilities
The best Tariq build in Fellowship also has several AoE based abilities and rotations that you can use when going up against larger groups of enemies:
- Begin with Leap Smasher to cause significant damage to multiple enemies in the area.
- As before, you’ll again use Heavy Strike and Wild Swing to set the Fury generation in motion.
- However, instead of Skull Crusher, for AoE purposes, we suggest using the Hammer Storm ability. The ability causes Tariq to spin consistently with his hammer, dealing damage to all of the enemies surrounding him. Keep in mind that this one requires Fury to activate.

The stat you want to focus on with Tariq is Strength. Building Strength ensures that all damage from other skills scale alongside the improvement in the stat. Make sure you keep the following tips in mind when playing this specific Tariq build:
- Master the Swing Timer for maximum Heavy Strike damage: You need to time the Heavy Strike input perfectly based on the Swing Timer. Doing so will increase the damage you deal with the attack. However, misting can reduce your Fury gain rate.
- Avoid capping Fury: While Tariq can store up to 100 Fury, it’s best not to let it overcap. Make sure you unleash Fury spending skills when its between 60 and 80. Overcapping results in losing out on the Fury that’s currently being generated.
- Save Thunder Call for emergencies: Thunder Call is best reserved for boss fights or for large AoE pulls. Both of these scenarios allow you take advantage of the complete 20 second empower window.
