There are three Metal Coats you can get in Pokemon Legends Z-A: one each as rewards for completing Side Missions 101 and 114, and one purchased from the Racine Construction NPC. The Infinite Z-A Royale also has a chance to reward you with a Metal Coat.
- Side Mission 101 is Steadfast as Steel, which you can start from Bleu Street. It involves defeating a trainer and rewards you with 3,000 Poke Dollars, 1 Metal Coat, and 2 Exp. Candy M.
- Side Mission 114 is A Feather from Skarmory, which you can take on outside Wild Zone 17. The mission involves finding a Skarmory Feather within Wild Zone 17 and rewards you with 3,500 Poke Dollars, 1 Metal Coat, and 3 Babiri Berry.
- The Racine Construction NPC becomes available after completing all the main story missions of Pokemon Legends Z-A.

How To Evolve Pokemon Using Metal Coat
You will have to carry out a Trade Evolution for Onix or Scyther using a Metal Coat.
- Give Onix or Scyther a Metal Coat.
- Trade the Pokemon to another player while they hold the Metal Coat.
- Onix or Scyther will evolve as soon as they are traded to the other player.
- Have the player trade the evolved Pokemon back to you.
