Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier took to X to announce the launch of a criminal investigation against Roblox. He stated that his office will be issuing criminal subpoenas to the platform and will use them to gather more information for the prosecutors. The AG released the statement on October 20, 2025, stating that he will stop at nothing to fight to protect the children. This comes days after Iraq banned Roblox across the country, alleging exploitation towards minors.

Making an announcement on X, AG Uthmeier said:
“Today, our office will be issuing criminal subpoenas to the online children’s gaming company, Roblox. Roblox profited off of our kids while exposing them to the most dangerous of harms. They enabled our kids to be abused. Companies like Roblox have become breeding grounds for predators to get to and have access to our kids.”
Uthmeier stated that the subpoenas will allow prosecutors to gain more information about criminal activities taking place on Roblox. He also stated that the subpoenas will enable them to get to the predators and support the victims. The AG concluded his statements by saying that they will stop at nothing to fight to protect the kids. He added that the companies acting carelessly and exposing children to harm will be held accountable. Kentucky Attorney General Russell Coleman has also sued the platform over similar issues.
Apart from government officials, Roblox also faces a lawsuit from popular law YouTuber, Law by Mike. Roblox has been under heavy scrutiny following several reports of predatory and criminal behavior on the platform. The company faced backlash after banning vigilante groups that were taking action against reported offenders. The platform also took action against YouTuber Schlep, who posed as a minor and exposed predators in Roblox games. This led to several protests online against the platform, with netizens posting “#FreeSchlep.”
According to reports, Roblox responded to the criminal subpoenas and stated that it would continue to assist the authorities regarding the investigation. The company also stated that it has a “strong record” of working with authorities against the bad actors.

Popular YouTuber and content creator Andrew “Schlep”, known for his efforts against predators on Roblox, thanked the Attorney General for taking the situation seriously. The YouTuber responded to Uthmeier’s video on X, stating that his efforts got a Roblox developer arrested in Polk County, Florida. Schlep went on to describe his efforts in exposing predators and warning the company about the situation. Schlep wrote:
“In Polk County, Florida, I got a Roblox developer arrested and he was just recently convicted on three counts of CSAM. I spent a full year exposing predators on the platform and warning the company about what was happening — their response was, after ignoring me for over a year, was to issue me a cease and desist threatening litigation if I ever touched their platform again.“
The YouTuber ended his statements by praising the AG for taking serious steps. He wrote that thousands of children have faced “life-altering abuse” because they were told that Roblox was a safe space. Andrew further wrote that James Uthmeier was providing “a voice to people who were never supposed to be heard.”
