The Fire Kalos starter Delphox is a good Special Attacker, improved through its new Mega Evolution along with its best nature and moveset.
Delphox is one of three Kalos starters, which you can get alongside the usual starters in Pokemon Legends Z-A. Delphox is a Fire/Psychic type and works mainly as a Special Attacker.
This Pokemon also received a new Mega Evolution alongside Greninja and Chesnaught in the newest Pokemon title. However, for now, the Mega Stone to evolve Delphox remains inaccessible. Therefore, this article will focus on the base version of Delphox.
Disclaimer: This article will be updated with new information once Mega Delphox is available for testing. However, not many changes are expected since its Mega Evolution only strengthens its already powerful stats.
Best Delphox Moveset in Pokemon Legends Z-A
Since Delphox is a Fire/Psychic type, those are the dominant types you should try using in her moveset. This will let you get a STAB (Same Type Attack Boost) on these attacks. Ideally, your moveset would look something like:
- Flamethrower
- Heat Wave
- Psychic
- Psyshock
Flamethrower is the go-to Fire-type move. It has high power and a decent cooldown as well. You can replace it with Fire Blast instead, but you might face some issues with Fire Blast in ranked due to its long animation time. Another alternate choice is Mystical Fire.
Heat Wave is another token Fire-type move to use while Flamethrower is on cooldown. However, you might want to start off battles with Heat Wave first for two reasons:
- Heat Wave has a 10% chance to apply a Burn.
- Heat Wave hits enemies in a good area. This can be used to deal damage to groups of enemies together.
Psychic is one of the strongest Psychic-type moves in general. It has a high base power, combined with a chance of lowering the enemy’s defenses Defense. Psychic’s damage scales with the enemies’ Special Defense stat. So, you might find it difficult to break through in case some Pokemon have really high Special Defense.
So, running Psyshock is a way to counter this. Psyshock will be able to deal damage based on their Defense instead. This will cover all your bases and also give you an alternate Psychic-type move to use.
Best Delphox Nature in Pokemon Legends Z-A
The stat to sacrifice here is Attack. You can use Nature Mints to change your Delphox’s nature into any of the following ones:
- Modest (+SpA/-Atk)
- Timid (+Spe/-Atk)
Special Attack is an obvious priority for Delphox. Meanwhile, more Speed is good for any Pokemon, as it helps in reducing the cooldowns on your move.
Delphox Stats and Location
You can get Fennekin from completing Side Mission 08: Get Well, Fennekin. Apart from this, you can also find Fennekin in Wild Zone 18. Fennekin will evolve into Braixen, and then into Delphox.
The stats for Delphox look like:
- HP: 75
- Attack: 69
- Defense: 72
- Special Attack: 114
- Special Defense: 100
- Speed: 104
