She focuses on Fairy Pokemon and uses moves like Fairy wind and Gust. Here are the team compositions and strategies that will help you defeat her easily in battle.
How To Defeat Yvon in the Rank Y Promotion Match in Pokemon Legends Z-A

To defeat Yvon, you need to get a challenge ticket first, which costs 3000 ticket points. You get ticket points after battling enough trainers in Battle Zones. Yvon is located at the Bleu Plaza, just below Wild Zone 2. She is also a part of the story mission: Reaching Rank X. Her Pokemon are levelled around 15-16, so make sure to at least level your Pokemon above two to give yourself an advantage during the battle.
Yvon’s Team of Pokemon
The table below has details about her Pokemon and the order that she brings them out. So, it is recommended to get your Poison-type early on and switch later to the Rock-types.
Pokemon | Level | Weakness | Move set |
---|---|---|---|
Spritzee | 15 | Poison/Steel | Fairy Wind Disarming Voice Fake Tears |
Swirlix | 15 | Poison/Steel | Fairy Wind Fake Tears Charm Tackle |
Vivillon | 16 | Rock | Draining Kiss Infestation Gust Light Screen |
Counters To Yvon’s Team

Yvon’s team composition mostly has Fairy-type Pokemon. Spritzee and Swirlix spam Fairy moves and Tackle mostly. Poison Pokemon like Beedrill (found in the early game) is the best against them. Her last Pokemon is Vivillon, a Flying-type that takes 4x damage against Rock-type moves, so Binacle and any Rock-type Pokemon will one-hit KO.
Farm your Pokemon to around level 17-18 to ensure a smooth and easy battle. However, even if your Rock- and Poison-types are below by a level each, you should still be able to win the battle easily, as Yvon’s Pokemon take extra damage.
During the battle, Yvon’s Pokemon will spam Fairy Wind, which will consistently hit if you stay in the same place. So, move around the battlefield while spamming Poison and Rock attacks. As Steel-types are rare early on, Poison Pokemon become your best bet. You can look for a Honedge in Wild Zone 4, but they only spawn during nighttime.
Beedrill and Binacle can be found in Wild Zone 6. Their default moves are enough against Yvon’s Pokemon as it’s an early-game battle.
