Xavi is a trainer that you have to battle to promote yourself to the X rank in Pokemon Legends Z-A. Here’s how you can defeat him.
Xavi is the trainer you will fight in the Z-A Royale Promotion match in Pokemon Legends Z-A. His team consists of four Pokemon that are Bug, Psychic, and Normal types. To stand a chance against him, you should level your Pokemon to around level 22–23. Here’s how you can defeat Xavi and reach the X rank in Pokemon Legends Z-A.
How To Defeat Xavi in the Rank X Promotion Match in Pokemon Legends Z-A
Before battling Xavi, you must collect 4000 Ticket Points to obtain a Challenger Ticket. After getting the ticket, Xavi can be found at the School in Rouge District. You can check your map and locate the quest marker for Reaching Rank W. He has four Pokemon that are Bug, Psychic, and Normal types. Some of the best options against that lineup are Fletchinder and Beedrill. Fletchinder, being a Fire-Flying type Pokemon, counters the first half of his team, while Beedrill can handle the rest.

Counters To Xavi’s Team
It is recommended to use Fire, Flying, and Fighting-type Pokemon against Xavi. Fletchinder, Beedrill, and Heracross can be easily caught or earned by playing the game up to that point. These Pokemon are generally enough to defeat Xavi and his team in battle. Level them up to around 22–23 for a smooth victory.
Use moves like Ember (Fletchinder), Pin Missile (Beedrill), and Rock Smash (Heracross) to one-hit KO his Pokemon. You can obtain Heracross after completing the A Use for an Evolution Stone quest, and it learns Rock Smash from TM 004. All the other moves mentioned are learned naturally by leveling up the respective Pokemon.
The Spike move from Rosalia and Venipede will stay in the battle, so avoid fighting in areas where the spikes are located.
