Dragon-type Pokemon have always been amongst the strongest of their peers in any Pokemon game, and this holds true in Legends Z-A as well. This tier list will aim to rank these Dragon-type Pokemon from S rank (being the strongest), all the way down to C rank.

Their placement will mainly be governed by their combat usage and competitive viability. You should definitely use the best of the Dragon-type Pokemon on your team.

Disclaimer: Pre-evolved Pokemon will be considered in the same tier as their post-evolution forms. This is because you will eventually be using their evolved forms. The exception to this would be branching evolution paths, which will be classified separately. Moreover, this will also take their Mega Evolutions into account.

The best Dragon-type Pokemon in Legends Z-A:

PokemonReasoning
Garchomp600 Base Stat Total (BST) is the norm for a Pseudo-Legendary. Great Attack stat in base, with no glaring weakness (outside of Ice). This further skyrockets with Mega Evolution, giving it a monstrous Attack stat.
Dragonite600 BST without Mega Evolution. It has a great Attack stat without any boosts, and also has good defensive stats. Upon Mega Evolution, its Special Attack stat skyrockets, making it a great offensive Pokemon.
Salamence600 BST. Extremely high Attack stat after Mega Evolution, with no lacking stats defensively. Overall, extremely balanced.
Charizard534 BST is great. Gains the Dragon/Fire typing on Mega Evolution. Charizard becomes a great Physical or Special Attacker with a varied moveset on top.
Zygarde600 BST in 50% Forme, which increases to 708 after it transforms. Its monstrous stats are already enough to justify its placement. After Mega Evolution, its Special Attack increases by more than 100 points, making it a menace on the battlefield.

These are decent Dragon Pokemon in Legends Z-A:

PokemonReasoning
Altaria490 BST puts it at the lower end stat-wise. It’s Dragon/Fairy typing upon Mega Evolution is nice, while giving all its stats a decent boost. However, no particular part stands out.
Dragalge494 BST. Good defensive stats on base. Upon Mega Evolution, Special Defense gets increased even further, with good Special Attack. It suffers from a lower health pool.
Drampa485 BST. Not extremely used in base, but it still has an extremely high Special Attack stat. After Mega Evolution, its Special Attack goes even further, with defensive stats adjusted for it to survive better.

B Tier

The B-tier holds those Dragon type Pokemon that do not shine in any particular field for Legends Z-A:

PokemonReasoning
Goodra600 BST. This Pokemon does not have access to Mega Evolution, which is one drawback. Apart from this, its Defense is quite low compared to its Special Defense, with not enough offensive stats to justify a higher placement.
Noivern535 BST. This Pokemon is extremely fragile, but fast. However, Speed is not as useful in this game compared to the mainline ones, making this Dragon/Flying type weaker in comparison.

C Tier

Not recommended for competitive:

PokemonReasoning
Tyrantrum521 BST, which isn’t bad. However, its Special Defense makes it extremely fragile. Combine this with its slew of weaknesses, which can be targeted by opponents, and you get a Pokemon that is not viable competitively.

That was the complete tier list for all the Dragon-type Pokemon available in Legends Z-A. You should definitely try to use the S-rank ones if possible, since those are the best in the game. However, for casual use, you can use whoever you want without much of an issue.
