Where to find the Yellow Loong Boss in Black Myth Wukong?

To find the Yellow Loong boss, travel to the Relief of the Fallen Loong Keeper’s Shrine in Chapter 4 (The Webbed Hollow). However, before encountering Yellow Loong, you first need to defeat the three previous Loong brothers: Red Loong, Black Loong, and Cyan Loong. To start the Loong questline, you need to obtain the Loong Scales key item. The Loong Scales can be obtained at the arena where you fought the First Rat Prince boss, in Chapter 2 (Yellow Sand Ridge). In the boss arena, you will find a wall adorned with scriptures. Use the Wandering Wight Spirit ability to crack the wall.

Next, head inside the wall through the crack to obtain the Loong Scales. Once you obtain the Loong Scales, you will find the three Loongs in the following locations:

  • Red Loong: The Red Loong can be found near the Outside the Forest Keeper’s Shrine in Chapter 1 (Black Wind Mountain).
  • Black Loong: The Black Loong can be found near the Rockrest Flat Keeper’s Shrine in Chapter 2 (Yellow Wind Mountain).
  • Cyan Loong: The Cyan Loong can be found near the Turtle Island Keeper’s Shrine in Chapter 3 (The New West).

Once you find and defeat the three Loong brothers, you will find the Yellow Loong near the Relief of the Fallen Loong Keeper’s Shrine. The Relief of the Fallen Loong can be found in the path leading to a broken bridge, right after you defeat Buddha’s Right Hand boss. It should be noted that you can complete the Loong questline even after completing the main story.

How to Beat Yellow Loong in Black Myth Wukong

The Yellow Loong is one of the most challenging bosses in Black Myth Wukong (Image via GameScience)

The best way to beat Yellow Loong in Black Myth Wukong is by using the Immobilize Spell as well as the Apramana Bat Spirit Transformation ability. The Yellow Loong, much like the Red and Black Loongs, is very weak to Frost status and takes bonus damage if frozen. Additionally, you would also want to spend a few points in the A Pluck of Many Spell. The encounter against the Yellow Loong is a battle of attrition, especially if you face the boss ahead of obtaining Jangubang, i.e., the most powerful weapon in Black Myth Wukong.

The Yellow Loong does not have too many complex moves, but the ones he does have are all incredibly damaging. Not only do his attacks deal very high amounts of damage, but they also inflict Lightning damage, which increases damage received for a short duration. Furthermore, Lightning debuff also affects your Stamina regeneration, something that can easily halt you mid-combo, leaving you open and vulnerable to the boss’ attacks.

However, the biggest issue that most players will face with the boss is dealing enough damage before you run out of healing vials or your Mana. The best way to tackle the Yellow Loong is right after completing Chapter 5 (Flaming Mountain) and before heading too deep into Chapter 6 (Mount Huaguo). For the Yellow Loong encounter, we recommend Level 80; however, you can go by just fine as long as you’re above Level 65.

Tips and tricks to defeat the Yellow Loong

The Yellow Loong can be defeated with proper use of Spells and Perfect Dodges (Image via GameScience)

The Yellow Loong, due to his humanoid nature, is an extremely agile enemy very much akin to the Cyan Loong albeit much faster. On top of that, the weapon that the boss uses has incredible reach, as such, it can be a tad bit difficult to outrun him. Furthermore, the arena where you battle it out against the Yellow Loong isn’t particularly spacious. As such, your best bet here is to rely on Perfect Dodges and kiting around the boss to avoid getting hit by his lightning attacks. Thankfully, due to his humanoid nature, the Yellow Loong can be very easily staggered.

Additionally, the boss is also incredibly susceptible to Burn and Frost damage. Hence you’d want to stick with the Apramana Bat Spirit, which not only deals Frost damage but can also freeze the Yellow Loong for a brief duration. Additionally, since the Yellow Loong can be easily staggered out of his attack animations, A Pluck of Many can help here, by overwhelming the bos with attacks. Also, using Cloud Step instead of Rock Solid might be a good idea here, since you can use the invulnerability phase to not only dish out damage but also heal or apply buffs.

Yellow Loong attacks and counter strategies

Below are the attacks that you need to look out for while fighting the Yellow Loong in Black Myth Wukong:

  • Lightning lunge: The most common attack that the Yellow Loong always starts with is the Lightning lunge, which he can then combo into either a two-hit attack or a three-hit combo with a finisher. Think of it like a varied combo with a finisher at its end. This attack is fairly easy to dodge as long as you don’t spam the dodge button. The most effective way to avoid this attack is to dodge to the sides. You can also use Cloud Step to avoid getting hit by the lightning combo.
  • Six-hit lightning combo: The six-hit combo is something the Yellow Loong does twice throughout the entire battle, and it’s easily one of the most lethal attacks in his arsenal. Perfect Dodge is the best tool to use against this attack. However, you can also use Cloud Step or, better, a charged-heavy attack to knock the boss out of his attack animation essentially.
  • Overcharged lightning AOE: The Yellow Loong does the AOE blast right after his six-hit combo. The best method of avoiding this attack is to sprint away from the boss, close to the arena’s perimeter. Alternatively, you can just tank the entire AOE using your Transformation Spell.
