The final Relic, Freed Mind, in Black Myth Wukong is unlocked after you complete the base game and proceed into a fresh Journey, i.e., New Game+. However, you can get the Freed Mind Relic if you complete the game with the true ending. Much like the other five Relics that you have collected in your previous playthrough, the sixth and final Relic – Freed Mind, offers three distinct perks to choose from, each offering a significant advantage that helps a lot with the increased difficulty of the New Game+ mode.

It’s currently unclear whether there’s any special ending or story-related sequence tied to the six Relic or not, but it does offer an insight into some of the lingering questions that players might be left with at the end of their first playthrough. Although the Freed Mind is unlocked automatically upon starting New Game+, getting the true ending isn’t nearly as straightforward. To get the true ending, you need to meet certain prerequisites, which can be a bit troublesome to figure out, especially on your first playthrough.

Here’s a look at all the prerequisites for the true ending, as well as the easiest way to get the sixth and final Relic in Black Myth Wukong – Freed Mind.

How to get the true ending in Black Myth Wukong?

To get the true ending, there are essentially three prerequisites that you need to meet – Complete the Yellow Loong questline, Reach the finale of Chapter 6 (Mount Huaguo), and uncover the Great Pagoda in Chapter 3 (The New West). Upon completing all the prerequisites, you will get passage to the secret area in Chapter 3 – Mei-Jian Peak, via a portal in the Great Pagoda. At the Mei-Jian Peak, you will again face Erlang Shen (from the prologue), and only after defeating him as well as the Four Heavenly Kings, can you get the true ending of Black Myth Wukong.

It should be noted that even if you get the normal ending once, you can still work your way towards the true ending, without having to start New Game+. You can fight the final boss of Black Myth Wukong – Stone Money and The Great Sage’s Broken Shell as many times as you want, simply by interacting with the stone egg in Chapter 6 (Mount Huaguo).

How to complete the Yellow Loong questline in Black Myth Wukong

The Yellow Loong questline can be completed by finding the Loong Scales and defeating all four Loong brothers across Chapter 1 (Black Wind Mountain), Chapter 2 (Yellow Wind Ridge), Chapter 3 (The New West), and Chapter 4 (The Webbed Hollow). You can obtain the Loong Scales key item from the First Rat Prince boss arena in Chapter 2 (Yellow Wind Ridge). Once you have the Long Scales, you will need to find the first three Loongs across the game’s opening chapters.

  • Red Loong: The Red Loong can be found near the Outside the Forest Keeper’s Shrine in Chapter 1 (Black Wind Mountain).
  • Black Loong: The Black Loong can be found near the Rockrest Flat Keeper’s Shrine in Chapter 2 (Yellow Wind Ridge).
  • Cyan Loong: The Cyan Loong can be found near the Turtle Island Keeper’s Shrine in Chapter 3 (The New West).

Once you defeat the three Loongs, you will find the fourth and final Loong brother – the Yellow Loong near the Relief of the Fallen Loong Keeper’s Shrine in Chapter 4 (The Webbed Hollow). After defeating the Yellow Loong, you will obtain the Golden Lining Transformation Spell and a passage to the great Pagoda in Chapter 3 (The New West).

How to reach the finale of Chapter 6 (Mount Huaguo)

Chapter 6 (Mount Huaguo) is straightforward, with five main story bosses – Supreme Inspector, Cludtreading Deer, Gold Armored Rhino, Feng-Tail General, and Emerald-Armed Mantis, that you need to defeat before reaching the finale. Furthermore, the entire Chapter is a boss rush, meaning there is very minimal exploration, as such it won’t take too long to reach the finale. Once you reach the finale of Chapter 6 (Mount Huaguo), you must go back to the Great Pagoda to complete the final step of the true ending.

How to reach the Great Pagoda in Black Myth Wukong

The Great Pagoda can be found near the Snow-Veiled Trail Keeper’s Shrine in Chapter 3 (The New West). Once you reach the Snow-Veiled Trail Keeper’s Shrine, simply proceed east until you reach a bridge. Across the bridge, you will find a trail of frozen zombified monks. Follow the trail and arrive at a massive snow-covered area resembling a boss arena. Across the arena, you will find a frost-covered gate with which to interact to reach the Great Pagoda. If you have completed the other requirements for the true ending, reaching the Great Pagoda should trigger a cutscene that will teleport you to the Mei-Jian Peak.

Mei-Jian Peak is a small area with only one boss fight – Erlang, the Sacred Divinity. Defeating Erlang, the Sacred Divinity, is necessary to get the true ending of Black Myth Wukong. Once you defeat Erlang, he will return from the battle and transform into his beast form. At this point, the Destined One will also transform into the Stone Monkey and have to spar against the Four Heavenly Kings.

After defeating the Four Heavenly Kings, you must fight Erlang Shen in his beast form. And once you defeat Erlang Shen, you will obtain the Azure Dome Transformation Spell. Furthermore, after defeating Erlang, you must travel back to Mount Huaguo and defeat the final boss of Black Myth Wukong – Stone Monkey and the Great Sage’s Broken Shell. Upon defeating the final boss after defeating the Yellow Loong and Erlang Shen, you will get the game’s true ending.

How to obtain the Freed Mind Relic in New Game+

You get the Freed Mind Relic after starting New Game+ following the true ending of Balck Myth Wukong. It should be noted that if you did get the true ending, you still will be able to see the Freed Mind Relic in your Relics inventory, but won’t be able to activate its perks. Freed Mind is essentially the crown that was used by the Celestial Court to bind Sun Wukong to their will. Much like the other Relics in the game, the Freed Mind offers three distinct perks to choose from:

  • Elegance in Simplicity: Moderately buffs light attack damage.
  • Unified Minds: Allows the Duplicates summoned via A Pluck of Many Spell, to copy the Destined One’s charged-heavy or combo finisher attacks.
  • Unbegotten undying: Grants invincibility and a defensive buff for a brief duration after reviving with the Life-Saving Strand.

In addition to the Freed Mind, New Game+ adds a new Spell, the Life-Saving Strand. This spell revives the Destined One once during the battle. The Life-Saving Strand replaces the A Pluck of Many. Furthermore, New Game+ also adds a few new weapons for you to craft that offer higher attack power as well as critical damage. These new weapons are available to craft after completing a main story chapter or certain side quests.
