How to Start the Man-In-Stone Questline in Black Myth: Wukong?
To start the quest line,you must talk to the Man-in-Stone in Chapter 2 of Black Myth: Wukong. This is an optional quest that you will have to manually trigger the first instance by finding and talking to this NPC. It is one of the easiest quests and you will be able to attain the Azure Dust Transformation Spell after completing it.

Where to Find the Man-In-Stone in Black Myth: Wukong?
The Man-in-Stone can be found in a ravine near the Squall Hideout Keeper’s Shrine in Fright Cliff. Once you Fast Travel to this Shrine, turn around to make sure it is on your left. Continue moving forward and take the left just beside the short stairs. However, do not take the stairs.
If you keep following this path, you should pass under a small bridge into a ravine leading to a dead end. At the very end of this ravine, you will find the Man-in-Stone. Converse with him to begin the quest.
Steps to Complete the Man-In-Stone Side Quest
Follow this stepwise guide to complete the Man-in-Stone Side Quest in Black Myth: Wukong:
Step 1: Talk to the Man-In-Stone
After talking to the Man-in-Stone, he will tell you how a being called the Mother of Stones is causing other beings in the area to behave weirdly. Your task is to beat the Mother of Stones and retrieve the Stone Essence.
Step 2: Find the Mother Of Stones
To reach the Mother of Stones, Fast Travel to the Rockrest Flat Keeper’s Shrine in Fright Cliff. Once here, turn around and enter the cave opposite to the Shrine. Take the first right that leads to an upward path and keep following it. You should be able to see bright blue glowing rocks. This is the Mother of Stones.
Step 3: Defeat the Mother Of Stones
This is the easiest part since the Mother of Stones itself is immobile. There are some mob enemies nearby that will distract you: make short work of them before hitting the Mother of Stones.
Once you have killed these side enemies, keep hitting the Mother of Stones until it disintegrates and gives you the Stone Essence drop. As mentioned, the Mother of Stones is a stationary boss and does not move or attack you.
Step 4: Return to the Man-In-Stone and Beat Him
You must now return to Man-in-Stone and hand him the Stone Essence to continue the side quest. He will then reveal that he has tricked you, after which a boss fight will begin. This is similar to facing the open-world enemies, albeit with a health bar that looks like a boss. You should easily defeat him in a few moves.
Once you have beaten the Man-in-Stone, he will dive underground again and you can get the Stone Essence back from him. With that, the Man-in-Stone Side Quest in Black Myth: Wukong is complete and the NPC becomes a shopkeeper from whom you can buy some useful stuff. This includes the Sobering Stone that is needed to complete the Drunk Boar side quest.
Completing the Man-in-Stone Side Quest also rewards you with the Azure Dust Transformation Spell, which can be useful in combat if used properly.
