Naturally, the excitement for One Piece Live Action season 2 is now reaching a fever pitch.

Everything We Know About One Piece Live Action Season 2

Currently, the second season of the live-action series is in the production stage. On July 1, 2024, Netflix streamed a video informing viewers that the live-action series had entered the production stage. The release date for the second season is not known yet. Since the live-action adaptation entered the production stage quite recently, viewers may have to hold on to their seats for another year or so before they can watch their favorite characters on screen again.

Those who have watched the first season of the One Piece Live Action series will know that it covered almost the entirety of the East Blue Saga. The second season will begin with the adaptation of the Loguetown arc. Eiichiro Oda put out a message on his official X account stating that the second season will cover all the way up to the Drum Island arc.

Viewers will witness the story’s transition from East Blue Saga to Arabasta Saga. This is an interesting set of story arcs as viewers will get to know a plethora of new characters, most of whom end up becoming important side characters in the latter stages of the overarching story. It will also be interesting to see how the producers create the set that will resemble the town of Arabasta.

Netflix producers are working closely with Eiichiro Oda

Eiichiro Oda, the creator of the manga series, expressed his interest in the second season. Fans were delighted to know that the Netflix producers have been working closely with the creator. Despite not including it in the contract, the production team has promised to put out content that has Oda’s unequivocal support and approval. This was a verbal agreement between the creator as well as the producers of the anime series.

It is also worth pointing out that die-hard fans of the series are anxiously waiting for the introduction of one character in particular – Tony Tony Chopper. It will be interesting to see how they bring a reindeer to life. Tony Tony Chopper isn’t just any reindeer. He was someone who consumed the Hito Hito no Mi. This is a type of Devil Fruit that allows the user to transform into a human being. He is an integral part of the Straw Hat Pirates, taking on the role of the crew’s doctor.

What Was Covered in Season 1?

As mentioned earlier, the first season of One Piece Live Action covered most of East Blue Saga. This particular section of the story spends a substantial amount of time with the exposition and introducing some of the main characters in the series. The likes of Nami, Zoro, and Sanji were introduced along with their backstories. They end up being longstanding members of the Straw Hat Pirates, helping Monkey D. Luffy achieve his short-term goals at various junctures. As a viewer, I found it interesting to see a lively bunch work together towards a common goal, despite having important personal goals for themselves.

This, paired with the sense of camaraderie, was what drew new fans to this wonderful tale of friendship, fame, and glory. The adaptation of the manga chapters is quite accurate. The fanbase hopes to see a similar effort from the production team in the second season of the live-action series.
