Fans can pick up the Jujutsu Kaisen manga from chapter 138, which is titled The Zen’in Clan. The chapter is mostly focused on the infamous Zen’in clan, and their internal struggle in determining a new clan head following the events of the Shibuya Incident arc.

Although Studio MAPPA, the animation studio, adapted a couple of panels from chapter 139 of the manga in the season 2 finale, it was done to provide viewers with a glimpse of what’s to come in the upcoming season 3 of the anime. With that in mind, interested fans, who may not want to wait for one or two more years for the anime’s return, can pick up the Jujutsu Kaisen manga from chapter 138.

How Much of the Jujutsu Kaisen Manga Has the Anime Covered?

Up until now, Studio MAPPA has adapted 137 chapters of the Jujutsu Kaisen manga in the anime. This leaves about 133 chapters in total that will get animated in the upcoming season 3 and a possible season 4 of the anime. Season 1 of the anime covered chapters 1-63 of the Jujutsu Kaisen manga, whereas season 2 covered chapters 64-137. Additionally, season 1 consisted of 24 episodes in total, whereas season 2 had 23 episodes.

Jujutsu Kaisen season 1 covered the following 4 story arcs from the manga:

  • Fearsome Womb arc (Episodes 1-8)
  • Vs. Mahito arc (Episodes 9-13)
  • Kyoto Goodwill Event arc (Episodes 14-21)
  • Death Painting arc (Episodes 22-24)

Jujutsu Kaisen season 2 on the other hand, was split into two halves, each covering the following two arcs:

  • Hidden Inventory/Gojo’s Past arc (Episodes 25-29)
  • Shibuya Incident arc (Episodes 30-47)

The upcoming season 3 of the anime will cover the arcs that immediately succeed the Shibuya Incident arc:

  • Itadori’s Extermination arc (Manga chapters 137-143)
  • Perfect Preparation arc (Manga chapters 144-158)
  • Culling Game arc (Manga chapters 159-221)

If you would like to get ahead of the story and don’t want to wait one or two more years for the release of the anime, reading the manga will allow you to dive right into the story and fulfill your curiosity.

Reading the manga can also offer you a more raw and authentic version of the story. There’s also no telling as to when Jujutsu Kaisen season 3 might get released, especially after the massive production work that went into season 2. Therefore, reading the manga might be a better choice than waiting, given that at this point, majority of the fanbase are already up to date with the manga. There certainly is a manga for Jujutsu Kaisen 0. It was originally a standalone series called Tokyo Metropolitan Curse Technical School. It was written and published before the main series as a prototype. After the success of Jujutsu Kaisen, it was renamed to Jujutsu Kaisen 0 to serve as a prequel to the main series.

The story of Jujutsu Kaisen 0 focuses on Yuta Okkotsu, a character introduced in the prequel who later went on to play a key role in the main series. It should also be noted that the events of Jujutsu Kaisen 0 takes place a year prior to the current timeline. This short manga series consisted of four chapters in total, which were later adapted into a full-length movie.
