Lunchly is a ready-to-eat meal box created by YouTubers Jimmy “MrBeast,” Logan Paul, and JJ “KSI”. It launched on September 16, 2024. The product has been marketed as a “healthier alternative” to the existing Lunchbales. Currently, there are three meal box variants – The Pizza, Fiesta Nachos and Turkey Stack ‘Ems. Despite the major names backing the product, it has found itself in hot water since its launch. People have brought up health-related concerns as well as instances of finding mold in the cheese in some of the boxes.

The first creator to call out the product was Dan “DanTDM.” Dan is one of the biggest Minecraft YouTubers. Reacting to the product, he called out the creators, stating that they were “selling crap to kids.” He said:

“I can’t say anything anymore. This is selling stuff for the sake of making money, simple. How does this benefit their fans? This is selling crap to kids who don’t know better than to trust the people who are selling it to them.”

After DanTDM voiced his criticism against the product, MrBeast, one of the co-owners, came forward and responded to the concerns. He stated that Lunchly is healthier than the market alternatives, pointing out how it has “80 less calories, 60% less sugar, more electrolytes.” He said:

“Lunchables sells hundreds of millions of units and countless people eat it. Our goal is to give people a better-for-you alternative to it. Our turkey meal for example is 80 less calories, 60% less sugar, more electrolytes, we use real cheese they use “cheese product” (they can’t call it cheese), higher quality meat, etc.”

What Are the Mold Allegations?

In October 2024, Lunchly was accused by netizens and fellow creators of poor quality control. Users posted pictures of the meal boxes, claiming that the cheese included in them showed signs of mold. Mold (or mould) is a type of microscopic fungus that can grow on food and is typically considered harmful.

Rosanna Pansino shared a video appearing to show evidence of mold in one of the boxes. The box in question was the “The Pizza” variant of Lunchly. She captioned the post with:

“I was filming a video comparing Lunchables to Lunchly and was shocked when I opened ‘The Pizza’ Lunchly. The cheese had MOLD! The expiration date was still 2 months away! I checked online and found at least a dozen other people posting that their Lunchly’s were moldy too.”

DogPack404, another YouTuber known for criticizing MrBeast, alleged something similar, claiming that the cheese in the Lunchly box also showed signs of mold. He posted:

Is Lunchly Being Removed From Stores?

Rosanna Pansino and DogPack404 both shared updates suggesting that stores may pull Lunchly products. Pansino posted a photo from a Kroger store indicating that it had discontinued Lunchly. She posted:

“Are @Lunchly’s being discontinued? Was just sent this photo that appears to show a @kroger store has the Lunchly Turkey Stack ‘Ems marked as DISCONTINUED.”

DogPack404 posted:

“Has anyone actually seen the turkey cracker Lunchlys in stores? Everyone I’ve talked to hasn’t been able to get them.”

No confirmed sources have reported yet that stores are removing Lunchly. The products may simply be out of stock or facing supply issues from the company. The three co-owners have yet to respond to the allegations or the mold claims.
