The One Punch Man series is quite unique in the sense that the protagonist was introduced as one of the strongest characters in the series. The hero’s struggle is simply not there because he is far more powerful than most, if not all, villains in the series. In fact, the reason why this show is called One Punch Man is due to the fact that Saitama can quite literally beat anyone with just one punch. This is why there hasn’t been a single villain who has managed to test his limits. Additionally, the series also reveals that the protagonist yearns for an opponent who will push him to his limits.

This leads to an interesting question – how did Saitama become so strong in One Punch Man? Saitama became this strong because of a strict workout regimen involving push-ups, sit-ups, squats, and a run.  This led to his hair falling and, eventually, he became bald. This also marked a point where he broke the limiters. This is how the Caped Baldy became one of the strongest characters in the series, if not the strongest overall. That being said, the workout regiment isn’t particularly impressive since there are plenty of C-Class heroes who probably train harder than he did.

The Caped Baldy, before becoming a hero, was attempting to become a salaried employee. He was constantly rejected during interviews, and he lost all hope. One day, a child was being chased by Crablante, and he decided to save him. Saitama put his life on the line and managed to defeat the monster. It was at this point that he decided to get fitter and become a hero. Thus came forth Saitama’s legendary workout regimen that allowed him to become one of the strongest characters in the series.

He completed 100 push-ups, 100 sit-ups, 100 squats, and a 10-kilometer run every day. He followed the routine diligently for three years and eventually broke his limiters and lost his hair. A new hero emerged – strong, bald, and indestructible. Saitama became so powerful that fighting no longer interested him. There wasn’t a single opponent who pushed him to his limits. The manga then revealed two very important points that gave fans some perspective into his strength.

He has limitless potential, and he is constantly growing. This is a deadly combination that allows him to consistently grow without having to experience any plateau. Furthermore, his true potential is quite literally limitless. This is why he is able to defeat most characters with just one punch.

Why Other Characters Never Believe Him

Saitama as a character is nonchalant, and things don’t generally bother him. People’s perception of him is the least of his concerns. He is someone who doesn’t really care about proving his strength to others. In the first season of the anime series, Saitama was asked to reveal the secret behind his godly strength. When he revealed it to the people in the room, they were simply unable to believe him because there was no connection between the result and the process.

The workout regimen mentioned earlier primarily builds muscular endurance. This does not translate to the incredibly high explosive power that he developed when he broke his limiters. There are a lot more nuanced movements required to improve punching power. Push-ups mainly target the shoulder and chest. However, a punching motion has more components involved. The training routine he followed would make him a great endurance athlete. However, it does not improve punching power to a point where anyone could be defeated with just one punch.

Is Saitama the Strongest Character in One Punch Man?

Based on what has been shown so far, yes. Saitama is the strongest character in One Punch Man so far. The likes of Blast and God are shrouded in mystery, and there aren’t many feats for comparison. Since this is the case, it’s hard to assess where they stand in comparison to the Caped Baldy. In the manga, Garou is the strongest villain that Saitama was forced to fight. In fact, his opponent understood the flow of all energy and even recreated nuclear fission and fusion.

However, the Caped Baldy was able to thwart him, thereby claiming the title of the strongest. It is also important to note that God could potentially be stronger than Saitama. However, we are yet to see the entity’s true powers. When revealed, that will give us more clarity on this subject.

Does Saitama Get Stronger Throughout One Punch Man?

Where to pick up One Punch Man manga after the anime?

In short, yes, Saitama gets stronger as the story progresses. This can be confirmed by revisiting the Monster Association arc in the manga series. The narrator of the manga takes the time to explain an important detail about the Caped Baldy. His potential is limitless and he is, at all times, growing. This implies that he is getting stronger as time passes. Furthermore, there is no limit to how strong he can become because of his limitless potential. Therefore, it is confirmed that the Caped Baldy is getting stronger as the series progresses.

Conclusion

It is important to note that Saitama is currently the strongest character in the series. God has been introduced in the manga but we’ve only got glimpses of this entity’s powers. Therefore, it’s too early to call God the strongest, but they certainly are a contender. Furthermore, the Caped Baldy broke his limiters all thanks to his grueling workout regimen. It will be interesting to see just how far he can go, and if at all there’s anyone who could show him his limits.
