Trading is arriving in Pokemon TCG Pocket in January 2025, although you will not be able to trade all types of cards at the beginning.
For a Trading Card Game, Pokemon TCG Pocket currently does not allow the trading of cards. If you play the game, you will note that there is a “coming soon” icon displayed above the trade button. Moreover, the feature itself is currently disabled, and you cannot interact with this button at all.
In a recent statement by The Pokemon Company, the developers have finally given us a date for when the trading feature will be usable in Pokemon TCG Pocket. Luckily, the wait is not going to be very long. You can expect to trade cards in Pokemon TCG Pocket starting in January 2025.
When Can You Trade Cards in Pokemon TCG Pocket?

There will likely be several constraints placed on the trading feature initially. In the statement, the developers mentioned:
“In addition, we are aiming to add a feature that allows certain cards to be traded starting in Janurary, 2025. We are planning to gradually expand the selection of cards that are able to be traded.”
While the developers have not mentioned what cards can or cannot be traded, it is likely going to depend on the rarity of the card. You might not be able to trade very rare cards like the immersive or golden variants at the beginning.
Pokemon TCG Pocket only has the Genetic Apex Expansion currently with only a handful of cards. With the inclusion of more expansion packs, the number of cards will greatly increase, which might also have something to do with the constraint on the trading feature.
