Should You Skip Any Chainsaw Man Arc?
Chainsaw Man is a very fast-paced story that covers a lot of ground with every chapter. There are no “unnecessary” arcs in the series, and all the characters and narratives introduced contribute cohesively to its conclusion.
There is a part of the fanbase that believes the introductory arcs of Chainsaw Man Part 2 can be skipped since it shifted the focus from Denji to Asa Mitaka – the deuteragonist. However, Asa and the War Devil she hosts play a huge role in Denji’s life. Their character arcs are also layered while introducing fans to the themes of the second part of Chainsaw Man.
Therefore, to fully enjoy the series, you shouldn’t skip any of the Chainsaw Man arcs.
Which Are the Longest and Shortest Chainsaw Man Arcs?
The longest arcs in Chainsaw Man Part 1 are the International Assassins Arc and the Control Devil Arc, with 18 chapters each. The former revealed to the world that Denji was Chainsaw Man. Since the Chainsaw Devil in his heart was heavily desired, assassins from all over the globe began attacking him while he tried to survive.
The latter arc is the Control Devil Arc and finally showed the ulterior motives Makima had for Denji. Using her broken abilities, she wished to gain control of Pochita. This led to the decisive battle of the first part, where the real Hero of Hell awakened.
In Chainsaw Man Part 2, the longest arc completed is the Chainsaw Man Church Arc. Containing 24 chapters, it followed the Chainsaw Man Church, which had the goal of eliminating the Death Devil. To this end, they also captured Denji and began destroying everything he loved.
Apart from these, the longest arc in the series so far has been the Current Arc, which has over 29 chapters. We will be taking a closer look at this in the next subsection.
The shortest arc in Chainsaw Man Part 1 is the Introduction Arc. This introduced us to Denji, a young boy working for the Yakuza and struggling to make ends meet. His life drastically changed when he gained the powers of the Chainsaw Devil.
The shortest Arc of Chainsaw Man Part 2 is the Dating Denji Arc. In this, Asa and Denji spend time with each other and gradually form a bond. It was the calm before the storm when we also found out the possessive nature of Nayuta.
What Is the Current Arc in the Manga?
The Chainsaw Man manga is currently in an unnamed arc that delivers some of the most heartbreaking moments for Denji. Having lost Nayuta, he sinks to the lowest, while Asa tries to cheer his spirits again.
Wishing to not feel the pain any longer, Denji transforms into the original Chainsaw Man and causes mayhem. With new entrants such as the Aging Devil, Denji and Asa are sent to another realm. Stuck here, will they be able to work past their issues, and will our protagonist get through his trauma?
Conclusion
Chainsaw Man is one of the most unique stories ever made and is unabashedly shocking, grotesque, and a rollercoaster of emotions. Its second part had a slower start but soon became one of the best additions to the series with its character development and introduction of fascinating Devils.
