Ludwig Ahgren, popularly known as Ludwig, was born on July 6, 1995. He is now 29 years old.
Ludwig Anders Ahgren, born on July 6, 1995, in New Hampshire, is 29 years old as of this writing. He attended Arizona State University and graduated with a degree in journalism and mass communication. Ahgren began live streaming on Twitch on May 16, 2018.
In his early days, Ludwig streamed games like Super Smash Bros, Dark Souls and Mario Party to a relatively small audience. His charismatic personality and versatility as a streamer won over many in a short period of time. Today, he is one of the biggest creators in this space.
In January of 2021, Ludwig teamed up with fellow Twitch streamer MoistCr1TiKaL to host a game show titled Hivemind. It was streamed live on Twitch, and the integration was such that the audience could play alongside the contestants in real time.
Ludwig’s Record-Breaking Subathon
In March of 2021, Ludwig cemented his legacy with a record-breaking “subathon”. What started as a 24-hour stream extended to 31 days. A “subathon”, or a subscription marathon, is a livestream format where each subscription adds time to the stream’s countdown timer.
The event quickly attracted massive attention, making Him one of the most-subscribed Twitch streamers at the time. Ahgren gained around 283,066 active subscribers, which broke the previous record held by Tyler “Ninja” Blevins. This number includes paid subscriptions, Twitch Prime subscriptions, and gifted subscriptions from his community.
Ludwig’s subathon struck a balance between authenticity and entertainment. Fans witnessed an entire month of him living life, and not just gameplay. From sleeping on camera to conducting all his daily activities, Ludwig’s commitment to the stream contributed to its success.
Many other creators joined him and participated in interactive games and challenges. His team managed operations and ensured Ludwig’s well-being. When Ahgren needed a break, his team played pre-recorded content to ensure the stream continued smoothly.
Ludwig pledged to donate most of the portion of his revenue to charity. The community warmly embraced this gesture, which in turn inspired great generosity.
Ludwig’s Move to YouTube Gaming
In November of 2021, Ludwig shocked the streaming world with the announcement of his move from Twitch to YouTube Gaming. Ahgren had signed an exclusive streaming deal with YouTube Gaming, which was announced in a video skit where Ahgren blew up a purple car to symbolize his departure from Twitch.
This move came after a lot of major content creators left Twitch for other platforms, including Valkyrae, DrLupo, TimTheTatman and others. He cited several reasons for his decision. Ludwig emphasized that Youtube Gaming gave him more flexibility and better support. Ahgren mentioned that Twitch had shown limited interest in his growth even after being an important member of the platform.
Although numerous netizens doubted his decision, Ahgren was happy. A year later, he showcased his statistics and numbers during an anniversary live stream. Ludwig said:
“22 million hours watched. Big number. Average viewers 20,422, with 71 million live views. Again, that’s like, people clicking on the stream. And then the final number, peak viewership 175,163, which was Dream’s face reveal.”
Ludwig has continued his YouTube streaming journey, exploring more games and hosting events like “Mogul Money Live”. His innovative ideas and adaptability made his transition to the new platform seamless.
At 29 years old, Ludwig has already left a mark on the streaming world and inspired a lot of young creators to pursue their dream of content creation.
