STALKER 2, also known as S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl, is the sequel to the award-winning PC franchise. Developed by GSC Game World, the post-apocalyptic survival RPG was released recently for PC and Xbox.

In highly radioactive regions like the Zone, surviving alone is impossible without proper equipment and weapons. You will likely get plenty of resources and weapons throughout the journey. There may be times when you need them most. However, carrying all of them with you is impossible, especially with your inventory weight limit of 80 kg. So, is there any way to increase the carry weight limit in STALKER 2? Luckily, you have some. Let’s get into them.

Methods To Increase Your Carry Weight Limit in Stalker 2

In STALKER 2, you need to track your inventory weight limit all along the way. If you are carrying over 80 kg, it results in one of STALKER 2’s status conditions, Encumbered. This status effect slows down your movement, your stamina will be depleted faster, and it will take more time to regenerate.

You can drop your unwanted items or broken weapons to negate the effect. Storing excessive weapons and equipment in personal base stashes will also do the job. However, there are several ways to actually increase your inventory’s carry weight limit temporarily or permanently (equip the item as long as you want) in STALKER 2.

Upgrading and Equipping Gear

In STALKER 2, Armors are not only protection, but some also increase your maximum weight limit by equipping or upgrading them.

You can equip some suits such as Bulwark Exosuit and OZK Explorer’s Suit, which increase the carrying weight capacity. Let’s have a look at the effects of some suits:

  • Wanderer’s Suit: Increases maximum weight by +8 Kg
  • OZK Explorer’s Suit: Increases maximum weight by +8 Kg
  • Cuirass Exoskeleton: Increases maximum weight by +8 Kg
  • Bulwark Exosuit: Increases maximum weight by +12 Kg

Several armor upgrades such as Swen-on Pockets and Load-Bearing Vest also boost your weight-carrying capacity. However, these upgrades are expensive and usually available at the end of the upgrade tree. Let’s have a look at the effects of these upgrades:

  • Swen-on Pockets: Increases maximum weight by 10%
  • Load-Bearing Vest: Increases maximum weight by 10%

Equipping Artifacts

STALKER 2 allows you to equip up to 5 artifacts on your suit. Equipping these artifacts provides some bonus effects. Luckily, some artifacts such as Sprint and Flytrap have weight bonuses, which means equipping them on your suit increases your weight-carrying capacity.

These artifacts can be found near anomalies such as gravitational and thermal. They can also be bought from NPCs in the bases. Although they provide a weight-carrying bonus, some of these emit a considerable amount of radiation. So, set your build with radiation-protection artifacts such as Slug and Mica to balance the radiation of weight-bonus artifacts, such as the following:

  • Sprint
  • Flaw
  • Flytrap
  • Stone Blood
  • Goldfish

Using Consumable (Hercules Drug)

Another great way to increase your weight-carrying limit is to use consumables such as Hercules drug. The Hercules drug increases your weight-carrying capacity by +20 kg upon consumption.

However, unlike the previous methods, this one is temporary. It lasts only for 300 seconds, which is 5 minutes overall. It acts as a reliable source if you are in need of carrying heavy equipment for a short duration instead of a long run. So, save this rare drug for such missions. The Hercules drug can be found in medical crates and facilities or by trading with medics in settlements.

How To Reduce the Weight of Weapons and Armor in Stalker 2

In contrast to increasing your weight-carrying limit, you can also reduce the weight of parts of your carrying weapons or armor. Although this doesn’t directly increase your weight-carrying capacity, this feature still helps you manage your inventory’s weight load.

Look out for the following weapon and armor upgrades to reduce the weight:

  • Lightweight Materials: Reduces weight by 1
  • Load-Bearing Vest: Reduces weight by 1
  • Fastening System: Reduces weight by 2
  • Milled Parts Replaced with Stamped Parts: Reduces weight by 30%
