7 Strongest One Punch Man Characters, Ranked

Other than Saitama, these heroes and villains have absurd strength that is unique to this show. Here are the strongest One Punch Man characters.

If someone asks, “How many powerful characters can be crammed into a series?” One Punch Man would simply answer, “Yes.” This series is full of out-of-this-world heroes and villains with equally wicked powers. One Punch Man is renowned for its lighthearted plot and its imaginative character design. Take the main character of this franchise, for example, Saitama. He’s absurdly strong, and he finishes off all of his opponents in one punch.

However, that doesn’t mean One Punch Man’s story is stagnant because of Saitama’s strength. If anything, this title has many other characters with their own excellently laid-out plots. Also, many of them have powers that might stand a chance against Saitama. Interestingly, it’s not always the heroes that reign supreme. Here is the list of the seven strongest characters in One Punch Man.

7. Centichoro

First appearing in One Punch Man season 2, Centichoro is an enormous centipede monster, spanning miles in length. Compared to all the monsters in the anime, Centichoro is a record-breaker in terms of sheer size. His size and aggressiveness earned him a Dragon-level threat title. Centichoro proved to be troublesome even for the high-level heroes. He easily shook off attacks from multiple Class S heroes, such as Genos, Bang, Metal Bat, and Metal Knight.

There is only one recorded instance where a hero defeated him. Two years before the current timeline in One Punch Man, Blast, the first rank of Class S, defeated Centichoro so badly. This is why, at the end of the anime, King could distract Centichoro so easily by mentioning Blast. However, it led to his demise. Instead of Blast, what appeared before Centichoro was Saitama’s fist, ending his life and terror on Earth.

6. Psykos-Orochi

The second season of One Punch Man revealed that there is a similar organization to the Heroes Association among the monsters. It’s called the Monster Association. During the events of the second season finale, they wreaked havoc and gave the heroes quite a hard time. Atop the Monster Association stood Orochi, the King of the Monsters.

At the end of the Monster Association arc, Orochi merged with Psykos. Psykos is an Esper who turns to the monster’s side. Anime-only fans might not realize it, but she is the person behind Gyoro Gyoro this whole time, plotting and scheming her own agenda. After merging together, Psykos-Orochi proved to be even stronger with psychic abilities.

5. Tatsumaki

The second-strongest hero of all the current heroes, Tatsumaki, is a registered pro hero ranked as the runner-up in Class S. Despite her small stature that leads people to think she’s just a sassy, lost child, Tatsumaki’s strength can’t be overlooked. As an Esper, she controls anything around her telepathically. This ability is shared with her sister, Fubuki, who’s comfortable in B Class with her entourage.

However, Tatsumaki mostly worked alone, rarely joining forces with other heroes. Compared to her colleagues, she took her job much more seriously. For instance, when she was on her day off, she quickly became bored and went patrolling anyway. Aside from her unmatched work ethic, Tatsumaki is considered the strongest Esper among the fan base. Her overwhelming psychic ability remains undefeated, especially after her win against Psykos-Orochi.

4. Boros

If there’s a character who can empathize with how Saitama feels, it would be Boros. He made his appearance as the final villain of the first season. Boros traveled in the vast, empty outer space to find a worthy contender for his strength. His strength relied on his speed and the sheer raw power his body had. Also, he shared the same regenerative ability with Melzargard, who faced the Class S heroes on the surface.

At this point, the cosmic overlord was the first person to ever withstand Saitama’s punch and live. The battle between him and Saitama was an intense finale for the first season, albeit not one other character knew about it.

However, by the end of the fight, Boros realized how Saitama was barely breaking a sweat and still had strength to spare. Boros’s defeat doesn’t mean he’s weak. If anything, it speaks volumes about how strong Saitama is. Even when a cosmic superpower stood against him, Saitama still prevailed.

3. Blast

The designated strongest person among the heroes, Blast, is the first rank of Class S. Blast’s mysterious absence throughout the anime only made fans more curious about how strong he was. In the manga, it’s revealed that one of the reasons he rarely ever showed up is because he became a hero as a hobby, similar to how Saitama worked.

However, there is another reason for his frequent absence. For the last two decades, he had been searching for mysterious cube-like devices spread around the world. He was concerned about these devices since they’re connected to a mysterious being simply dubbed “God” in the One Punch Man universe. To prevent any unwanted circumstances, Blast aimed to capture all the cubes before anyone made a deal with “God.”

2. Garou

Garou didn’t start as an exceptionally strong character. He did have merit behind his name, being Bang’s best student and the winner of a martial arts championship. However, throughout his appearance in the second season, Garou didn’t score a clean record of winning against the heroes. Even some of them gave him a hard time in his fight, including Watchdog Man and Metal Bat.

However, by the end of the second season, Garou had improved tremendously and was holding his own against Genos, Bang, and Bomb. All of them were Class S heroes or had strength equivalent to them. On top of that, Garou just single-handedly defeated a group of Class A heroes. For a human, Garou’s strength was close to what Saitama had achieved.

For manga readers, the plot has reached the point where Garou showed his true potential. After receiving more power from the mysterious being “God,” Garou got to his awakened form. His fight with Saitama might be the most intense of this series so far.

1. Saitama

Of course, the throne of the strongest character in One Punch Man belongs to the main character, Saitama. However, it’s not just for plot convenience—there are some good reasons for him to be on top. When he’s compared to the other characters, the question of what made Saitama so strong is even more pronounced. Others might have cybernetic advancements, telekinesis abilities, or a high level of intelligence. However, Saitama had none of these.

The only thing that he was fully aware of was his training, which consisted of 100 sets of various exercises. However, if you say that these are just regular exercises but with more numbers, Genos would agree. It’s later revealed in the manga that there is another reason behind Saitama’s strength.

In the One Punch Man universe, there is a theoretical concept known as the limiter. It is a point where someone stops developing their strength, or at least, they start to slow down. However, Saitama had removed his limiter at some point, enabling him to score inhuman feats as a human. That’s why other characters always had a hard time understanding Saitama’s source of power and the extent of what he could do.

Conclusion

One Punch Man is a series with a lot of unconventional character designs and imaginative powers. The main character’s trait is being strong beyond comprehension, and it sometimes becomes a comedic moment. Without a doubt, Saitama is the strongest One Punch Man character. However, when the show pans over the other strong characters, it becomes apparent that Saitama is just on another level, especially considering how strong the characters in this list alone.
