The free-to-play action RPG from 2013 is back again as Path of Exile 2. It has been more than a decade since the last installment was released. Covid-19 slowed down the upcoming game’s development, but things seem right on track now with its initial release getting closer.

If you are a fan of the series, you might be wondering whether the sequel would also be free-to-play like its predecessor. Well, you are in luck, because it is. Path of Exile 2 will be free for all gamers on a variety of platforms.

Unlike the 2013 game, Grinding Gear Games has developed their latest project to be released on several platforms at once. So, whether you are a PC, PS5, or Xbox Series user, expect to indulge in the game upon full release.

Players can download it using Steam, and Epic Store on PC. Consoles like PS5 and Xbox Series X/S can use their respective stores. Unfortunately, the game still hasn’t revealed the full release date. If you are impatient to play it, you only have to wait until the 6th of December for its Early Access.

Is Path of Exile 2 Early Access Free-to-Play?

The Early Access for PoE 2 wouldn’t give you the full experience of the game, for obvious reasons, and moreover, it is not entirely free.

If you played Path of Exile all these years and spent $480 on either a console or a PC through microtransactions, you may be eligible for a free Early Access experience. Redeemed and free points don’t count, though. So, make sure you are counting real money purchases. Those who are confident in their calculations and the Early Access doesn’t automatically unlock for you via mail, contact Grinding Gear Games.

Another way of unlocking the Early Access is by buying any of the three supporter packs that will be made available on your respective platform. The price range varies among the different packs: Early Access Supporter Pack ($29.99), Lord of Ogham Supporter Pack ($59.99), and King of Faridun Supporter Pack ($99.99).

All of these packs offer something different, but there are a few things that all Early Access players will experience collectively.

Out of the 12 planned classes, there will only be 6 available to select at first. However, if this doesn’t interest you as a fan, perhaps the story aspect of things may be a better option.

The developers plan on making PoE 2 Early Access a big game in itself. As a result, there will be 3 acts available to play through in the campaign, along with an Endgame. There will also be 50 bosses and around 400 monster types in this period.

When the game is fully released, the devs will add the remaining 6 classes, 3 more acts, more items and skill gems, more endgame content, areas, bosses, and monsters.
