The Great Circle refers to locations around the world that form a ‘perfect circle’ when connected on a map. No one knows what secret it holds. According to the trailer, no one knows if it even exists. But that’s for you and Indy to discover in the game.
But wait, why skip the second film, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, in the storyline? You might ask. That’s because the events happened in the year 1935, before Raiders of the Lost Ark, which was set in 1936. The timeline can be a bit confusing if you simply go by movie release order.
The goal of MachineGames and Lucasfilm for ‘Indiana Jones and the Great Circle’ is to follow the same formula that the film series has been using for years—a self-contained story. You don’t have to watch all the movies just to know what’s happening in the game and vice versa.
That’s the charm of the Indiana Jones franchise. Unlike Marvel movies, where missing key content between phases might make the other films or series confusing, you can just watch one Indiana Jones movie and enjoy it, one adventure at a time.
