Can You Play First Person in Marvel Rivals?

Will the new Hero Shooter, Marvel Rivals, let you play the game in first person? Or will it stay true to third-person shooting?

Marvel Rivals distanced itself from first-person shooters in the initial trailers themselves. The game wanted to stand out in the Hero Shooter genre flooded with FPS games.

Although the game is trying to create its own identity in a pre-established domain, some fans might miss the first-person aspect. Especially with the introduced roster, everyone would want to fly around as Iron Man, smash things as Hulk, and swing around as Spider-Man.

So, is there a way to turn Marvel Rivals into a first-person game? The short answer is no. The game’s Steam page has tagged it as a Third-Person Shooter and didn’t mention anything about running around and causing chaos in first-person. However, there have been a few instances which prove this claim wrong.

For example, The Punisher’s Culling Turret ability in the game lets him spawn a manually operated turret to shoot down targets in the vicinity. When he launches this ability, the game turns First-Person immediately.

In this way, we can say that Marvel Rivals is a hybrid between first-person and third-person shooters.

Marvel Rivals Distances Itself From Others in the Genre

Every Hero Shooter released is bound to get compared with the likes of Overwatch and its sequel, owing to their massive popularity in the gaming community. A NetEase took the third-person approach and created a distinction.

They further went on to distinguish themselves with an expanded roster, including Marvel characters. This is something brand new that Marvel had never done before. So, as a ‘first time’ among Hero Shooters, we will see your favorite comic-book heroes and villains.

There are more stand-out features in the game that will let you choose whether you should play it or not. For now, we all have to wait until the 6th of December. Once the game releases, you can see for yourself whether it is all worth the hype.

Perhaps we will also find more hybrid abilities that let us see through the eyes of our favorite Marvel characters.
