Zack Hoyt, popularly known as Asmongold, was born on April 20, 1990, which makes him 34 years old as of this writing.
Zack ‘Asmongold’ Hoyt is a 34-year-old live streamer and content creator, popular for his WoW streams and commentary content. Asmon was born on 20th April, 1990, in Florida. The streamer was introduced to WoW by his childhood friend when he was 16.
Zack went to business school and contemplated getting a law degree before becoming a full-time content creator. In his early days, he uploaded WoW guides and tips and tricks. He saw that there were not many WoW focused channels on YouTube and decided to start one himself. As his YouTube started growing, he moved over to streaming in 2014.
Asmongold struggled with finding a consistent schedule and building a following. Explaining his struggle in the early days, Asmon stated:
“The Asmongold struggle right at the f**king beginning of streaming, that was a grind…that was a f**king grind.”
Asmon was briefly banned on Twitch in his early days but was later unbanned after a conversation with a Twitch staff member. Asmongold’s unapologetic and straightforward opinions often got him in trouble, but his persona did not change.
Asmongold’s Career Explored
Before Asmon began streaming, the streamer used to upload WoW content on his YouTube channel. He even uploaded IRL content with his mom. Asmongold began streaming on June 15, 2014, on Twitch. His streams were a mix of gameplay, discussions about WoW lore, mechanics, and unfiltered commentary on the state of the game.
He gained some traction in his first stream, with over 50 viewers. His streams would grow over the years, and Asmon was becoming popular in the Twitch community. Asmongold’s secondary channel, ZackRawrr, began streaming on July 19, 2019. ZackRawrr was born out of Asmongold’s desire to have a channel where he could stream without the pressure of meeting the high expectations tied to his main channel.
OTK (One True King) is a gaming and content creation organization co-founded by Asmongold alongside other prominent streamers such as Mizkif, Esfand, Rich Campbell, and Tips Out in October 2020. Despite frequent controversies, Asmon continues to grow as a person and a streamer.
