Ascendancy Skill Points in Path of Exile 2 can only be acquired through completing ascension trials. These special skill points can be used to progress your Ascendency Class. There are a total of 4 trials to complete and over 8 Ascendancy Skill Points to acquire throughout the challenges.
These trials are important in character building, as completing these challenges is the only way to upgrade your Ascendancy Skill Tree. You can also unlock your Ascendency class after completing a challenge for the first time. Each time you succeed in a trial, a new layer of difficulty will be added.

How To Ascend in Path of Exile 2
Ascending in Path of Exile 2 is a major milestone that unlocks powerful new abilities. To achieve this, you must first complete one of the game’s two trials. The first challenge, the Trial of Sekhemas in Act 2, will reward the player with two Ascendancy Skill Points. You can use these points after you choose your Ascendancy Class.
Where To Get Ascendancy Skill Points in Path of Exile 2
You can get your first 2 Ascendancy Skill Points in Path of Exile 2 by completing Trial of Sekhemas and another 2 by completing Trial of Chaos in Act 3. That’s a total of four points that you can use to invest in your Ascendency Skill Tree.
As for the remaining four points, you can get them by revisiting these trials in Cruel Mode. This game mode will be more unforgiving for players. Make sure you prepare before starting this trial. Completing each trial in this harder difficulty rewards you with two additional points.
How To Start Trials in Path of Exile 2
In order to initiate these ascension trials, you first need to have their respective tokens. Certain bosses drop these tokens. You can obtain tokens for the Trial of Sekhemas by defeating Balbala, the Traitor. You can get the next token by defeating Xyclucian, the Chimera. This boss drops the Chimeral Inscribed Ultimatum that unlocks the Trial of Chaos. Once you’ve acquired the tokens, head to the trial door and place them to begin the challenges.
Keep in mind that these tokens are consumed upon starting the trial. This means, if you fail the challenge, you will also lose these tokens. You may need to defeat bosses again in order to get another token to try again. To avoid unnecessary setbacks, ensure you fully prepare before attempting the Ascension Trials.
