The Rotten Druid is one of the hardest bosses found in Act 1 of Path of Exile 2. The boss rests inside the Grim Tangle, and his arena is an obstacle in itself. The combination of the boss’s hard-hitting moveset combined with a hazardous arena makes for a frustrating experience for players just starting out. Where To Find the Rotten Druid in Path of Exile 2
Ervig, the Rotten Druid, lies deep in the Grim Tangle. As you make your way through the decaying Grim Tangle, you will stumble across the Den of the Druid. Ervig is responsible for the implacable decay that persists through the region and is somewhere deep within the lair. His spawn location is randomized, and he can spawn anywhere within the Den of the Druid. His arena is marked by a yellow glow and is difficult to miss. If the search bears no results, keep heading south and deeper into the Den of the Druid towards its very end. That is where he is most likely to be.
How To Beat the Rotten Druid in Path of Exile 2
Attacks To Watch Out For
Defense is the best form of offense, and this holds true for the Rotten Druid. Mastering your defense against the boss requires an understanding of the various moves he uses. Below, we’ve listed some of the moves you need to be on the lookout for.
- Projectile Attack: The Rotten Druid tends to avoid close encounters and prefers picking fights from a distance. The boss will frequently hurl fungal projectiles at you and does so at a rate of three at a time. These projectiles hover in the air before quickly zooming towards your position. Stay on your toes to evade them.
- Enhanced Projectile Attack: If you get too into his face, the boss will point his spear at you and launch a flurry of projectiles akin to a machine gun. These projectiles cover a wide area and are difficult to dodge. We recommend running in the opposite direction to evade them.
- Underground Strike: The boss will occasionally dive underground and will attack you from beneath the surface. These attacks can be predicted by keeping track of the red glow of his movements underground. Watch for the red glow and dodge the attacks.
How To Beat the Boss
As evident by the list of attacks we provided earlier, the Rotten Druid provides very little breathing room. You have to stay on your toes and watch out for his projectile attacks in order to stand a chance. You can roll in towards his Projectile Attacks to close the gap and attack him. Take note that he is very evasive and will teleport away, so you will have to do this a bunch of times to beat him.
